Less than two weeks after his special appearance at the band’s New Year’s Eve performance in Philadelphia, moe. guitarist Chuck Garvey has announced that he will be returning to the road full-time for the band’s 21-date winter 2023 tour, beginning with the January 19th performance in Huntington, NY. The long-awaited announcement comes 13 months after Garvey suffered a stroke, just after the band’s Halloween 2021 performance, and according to the band, would not have happened without the support of the moe. community.
 

In the twenty-four years since eclectic improv-rock band Umphrey’s McGee formed, their sound has been an amalgamation of genres, moods, and tempos, effortlessly flowing from one feeling to the next throughout an album or concert—or sometimes within a singular song. moe. has announced 14-additional tour dates for winter 2023, extending their previously announced east coast tour through March. Centered around the southeast, with a number of dates in Florida, the tour will wrap with a 2-night run at Variety Playhouse in Atlanta on March 23-24. At last night’s sold-out performance at The Fox Theatre in Boulder, moe.’s Al Schnier nearly brought the house down with the news that guitarist Chuck Garvey, who suffered a stroke last November, would sit-in as a “special guest” for a portion of the band’s NYE performance at the Fillmore Philadelphia for the first time in over a year. The announcement came exactly one year to the day since Garvey suffered his stroke, and his return appearance is also especially significant, since the Fillmore Philadelphia was the last venue he performed at on Halloween 2022.
