Today, Nancy Jones – the widow of George Jones – announced the one-night-only concert event “Still Playing Possum: Music and Memories of George Jones,” to honor the legacy and music of “the greatest country singer of all time”.

On Thursday, January 12 at City Winery NYC, Next Jazz Legacy — a program created by New Music USA and the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice that addresses gender and racial inequities by providing opportunities for mentorship and professional development to those who have been underrepresented in jazz — will cap off a monumental first year with a special NYC Winter JazzFest performance from its 2022 cohort of emerging women and nonbinary musicians.

SoCal-based blues vocalist and band leader Sandy Haley tends to write songs about conditions that affect her. Her newest, 'Run For Shelter,' is a true story "about when I found a woman lying on a sidewalk in the Winter outside of a Target store. She had no clothes or shoes on, and was wrapped only in a blanket," recalls Haley. "I went inside (Target) and bought her an outfit, some flip-flops and some food. When she got dressed, she looked like any other shopper. Sadly, dozens of shoppers had walked past her without helping.

On his newest single, “Learning to Love You,” Canadian blues-rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, and 3x-Maple Blues Award-nominee Chris Antonik. Known as the Canadian Gary Clark Jr., Antonik wrote the song as a love letter to his partner, Juno award-nominated jazz musician Alison Young, with a nod to Derek and the Dominos’ classic album, Layla. “Learning to Love You” is a ballad about healing your heart and learning to accept love again after some challenging years rooted in the heartbreak of divorce.

Southern roots rockers Robert Jon & The Wreck have released “Who Can You Love,” the captivating, Americana-infused second single from their new EP ‘One Of A Kind,’ out March 10th via Joe Bonamassa’s newest independent label, Journeyman Records.

Producer Ben Hosley has announced the upcoming release of Slow Xmas 2, a compilation of alternative Christmas music released by Bone Sound Records. He has also shared a new track from the album, “Lulajże Jezuniu,” from the California-based trio Heavy Gus. Hosley notes, “This time it’s even slooooower.” Slow Xmas 2 will be released on December 19th.
