The Texas songwriter tradition casts a long shadow today, and Austin-based Americana roots juggernauts Wood & Wire can easily rattle off a list of songwriters that inspire them, from Willie Nelson to James McMurtry and everyone in between. But ask them about what it is about Texas that brought us so many great songwriters, and they stop cold. That’s because they don’t romanticize Texas’ culture or its past; they’re too busy working their asses off making new music, writing new songs.

On May 11th, Round Records will release its most ambitious project to date with the long-awaited Jerry Garcia boxed set Before The Dead. The project features a meticulously researched and curated compilation of recordings the iconic Grateful Dead founder made prior to forming the legendary band. Before The Dead includes never before heard performances, recordings that have never been commercially released and a small selection that have.

Originally released in 1985, Centerfield was John Fogerty's third solo album and reached No.1 in the US, going multi-platinum.  It features the perennial baseball season favorite, “Centerfield”, and the Top 10 Hot 100 hit, “The Old Man Down the Road”.  On April 6, just in time for the baseball season’s opening week, BMG will reissue this fan favorite on vinyl featuring the original cover art, gatefold LP opening to reveal a bird’s eye view of a classic baseball field, with Centerfield painted in the grass.  T

As the winter darkness quickly replaced the twilight on the Bella Vista Ranch and Polo Club in Summerland, local DJ’s Suzanne X, Matty Matt, Gavin Roy and Zeke took over the music at the Kick Ash After Bash. Much of the crowd, especially those with children departed from the day-long event. But they were quickly replaced by a whole new crowd of the after-show ticket holders. Concert-goers were greeted with a continued supply of complimentary food and beverages that kept everyone in a festive mood in the cold evening air.
