YarmonyGrass is proud to unveil the music schedule for the 2012 festival taking place at State Bridge Amphitheater & Rancho Del Rio Aug. 2-5. Headliner Railroad Earth is set to play two huge sets Saturday night, and festival goers can expect four full days of non-stop entertainment and recreational opportunities.

The All Good Festival is right around the corner… this weekend to be exact. While the location has changed, the lineup has remained incredible with acts spanning across a wide spectrum of musical genres.

Railroad Earth’s Hangtown Halloween Ball is thrilled to announce the first wave of artists for the 2012 festival, set to take place in Placerville, CA on October 26th-28th at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds.

Music On the Mountaintop has confirmed the second round of artists slated for the fifth annual three-day music festival outside of Boone, North Carolina this August 24-26, 2012. The newest artists joining the performer lineup at the camping festival includes: The Dirty Dozen Brass Band; Greensky Bluegrass; Naked Gods; Rose's Pawn Shop; and Salem Speaks.

elseFest’s inaugural event will be held June 22nd and 23rd. elseFest is the greatest melting pot of Bluegrass, Jamgrass, and acoustic bliss that houses a plethora of instruments and sounds to make even the shyest of fans put on their dancing shoes.

I had a dream about Steve Martin, last night..

I knew I'd be writing this story, today.. That's likely why he was on my mind.  Of course he was in a white suit, with an arrow headband on his head.  [I'm a child of the seventies, after all..] But instead of playing for laughs, he was picking his banjo with fire, along with a bevy of world-class bluegrass musicians.  This was an especially fun dream, considering I've never seen him perform in any capacity beyond the movie theater.

On New Year’s Eve, Railroad Earth swung into a rendition of Warhead Boogie that, when all was said and done, left me in a state of almost comical ecstasy. During the crescendo and climax, I was twirling and spinning and swirling and grinning, and, then, when even kinetic rhythm couldn’t contain my body, I jumped as high I could, over and over, like a gobsmacked pogo stick.

This year’s Magnolia Festival was characterized by the usual wonderful blend of bluegrass, reggae and families and by unusually cold night- time temperatures.  Hovering above freezing at night, the mountain music sounded just right in the cool mountain air of the Florida “hills”.  As I sit in tank top and shorts in eighty degrees of Florida sunshine to write this, frozen fingers, frozen breath, the warmth of the fire and being bundled up from head to toe here last weekend seems surreal.  Though it was “crisp” t
