Indianapolis-based singer-songwriter Cory Williams will release his debut solo record The Outcome June 4, following a special record-release show May 31 at Radio Radio (1119 Prospect Street) in Fountain Square right outside of downtown Indianapolis. The record includes the new single “Tragically You,” written by Williams, in addition to 11 other tracks. The recording and production process involved Static Shack recording engineer Alan Johnson, in addition to mixing engineer Chris Kress who has long been involved in mixing the Dave Matthews Band’s Live Trax album series. Williams credits Johnson, Kress and Masterdisk’s Scott Hull, who has worked with artists ranging from Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews, Steely Dan, John Mayer and Bruce Springsteen, with the final touches that helped bring The Outcome to life.“The Outcome is almost foreshadowing, in a way, of what's to come, or what I saw coming, due to what has occurred in my life over these last 2 years,” says Williams. “It's also about watching people grow, watching people change and simply having a better understanding of what direction I need to go. It's the outcome; it's here, it’s now.”An Indiana native, Williams began experimenting with the acoustic guitar at the age of 10 and honed his skills through influences including Neil Young, Bob Marley, Radiohead and Pearl Jam, among others. He is a former member of the band Red Moon, formed in 2005, which developed a strong following and shared the stage with various national acts including Sister Hazel, Gin Blossoms, Needtobreathe, Shawn Mullins and many others.Williams has tour dates booked through the summer in the Midwest. A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN will open at New York City’s Gramercy Theatre (127 E 23rd St. / 23rd & Lexington Ave) on Thursday, April 10th, giving fans a chance to see Broadway’s acclaimed theatrical rock experience in one of New York’s most intimate concert venues. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.com and at the Gramercy Theatre box office.

A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN arrives at Gramercy Theatre following an engagement at Broadway’s Lyceum Theater where it was hailed by critics and had audiences leaping to their feet and dancing in the aisles. Mary Bridget Davies, who has taken New York by storm with her critically acclaimed performance as Janis Joplin, will reprise her role. On stage, Davies will be joined by many of the production’s Broadway cast - a stellar, eight-piece rock band as well as her “Joplinaires” - incredible female singers who provide the iconic voices of the blues and soul singers who influenced Joplin’s music, including Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone and Bessie Smith.

Janis Joplin fans nationwide will be able to enjoy A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN when they perform on the TODAY Show Friday, April 4th, LIVE from Rockefeller Center in the heart of New York City.

“Mary Bridget Davies captures the Joplin sound perfectly and keeps the house rocking, rocketing through at least a dozen of Joplin’s best-known songs, and singing them with a throbbing fervor that is often riveting.” – The New York Times

“Her “Joplinaires”… are far more than backup singers: Each takes on a blues goddess or two, and each meets Janis where she lives, in talent and intensity.” - New York Magazine

A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN has partnered with Live Nation to redesign its new, permanent home to host eight one-of-a-kind concerts a week, Tuesday through Thursday at 7 PM, Friday 7pm &10pm, Saturday 2pm & 8pm and Sunday at 3pm. Tickets ($65-$90) are available online at Ticketmaster.com and at the Gramercy Theatre box office. Premium tickets are also available. The historic New York City concert venue has welcomed eclectic and out-of-the-box arts and entertainment for decades and is one of only a handful of NYC concert venues suitable to host a special rock and roll experience of this kind.

"We are ready to rock with Janis at the Gramercy, cut loose and let A Night With Janis Joplin really move,” said Michael Joplin, Janis’ brother. “Laura and I are stoked about our new theater - we'll really be able to dance!"

"Hooray!” said Laura Joplin, Janis’ sister. “With A Night With Janis Joplin now at the Gramercy Theatre, we can all get together and dance!"

"We are thrilled to open A Night With Janis Joplin at the Gramercy Theatre, and look forward to working with the Live Nation team,” lead producers Todd Gershwin, Michael Cohl and Daniel Chilewich said in a statement. “We know that fans will love this new production, which builds upon our successful runs throughout the country with some exciting new creative elements."

"An intimate venue like the Gramercy is the perfect setting to be immersed in a live production about Janis Joplin, one of music's greatest legends,” said Ben Weeden, COO House of Blues Entertainment.  “It adds up to a once-in-a-lifetime entertainment experience."

Fueled by such unforgettable songs as “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Piece of My Heart,”  “Mercedes Benz,” “Cry Baby” and “Summertime,” a remarkable cast and a breakout performance by Mary Bridget Davies, A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN is a musical journey celebrating Janis and her biggest musical influences—icons like Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Odetta, Nina Simone and Bessie Smith, who inspired one of rock & roll’s greatest legends. Written and directed by Randy Johnson, A NIGHT WITH JANIS JOPLIN is produced by Michael Cohl, Todd Gershwin and Daniel Chilewich, in association with The Estate of Janis Joplin and Jeffrey Jampol for JAM, Inc.

The Grammy Award–winning, multi-platinum selling trio Nickel Creek—Chris Thile (mandolin/vocals), Sara Watkins (fiddle/vocals), and Sean Watkins (guitar/vocals)—officially reunites for the first time since its 2007 self-described “indefinite hiatus” with a new album, A Dotted Line. The band is touring the US in support of the Eric Valentine–produced album, with shows in New York, Boston, Washington, Chicago, Nashville, and Los Angeles, as well as at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Newport Folk Festival. As Nickel Creek’s 25th anniversary approached, the band members decided they ought to mark it in some way, so they got together to write music in Chris Thile’s apartment last year. They ended up with six new co-written songs, which they eventually took to a Los Angeles studio, along with one tune by Thile, one by Sean Watkins, and two covers: Sam Phillips’ “Where Is Love Now” and Mother Mother’s “Hayloft.” There they worked with Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Smash Mouth), who had produced Nickel Creek’s previous album, Why Should the Fire Die?.“We were excited every day to be there,” Sara Watkins says. “Having grown up singing together, there is something natural about our voices and it’s really fun to harmonize. Our voices have come to match each other’s really well. Sean and I are siblings, and Chris is about as close to a sibling as you could get.” Sean Watkins continues: “It feels more natural and easy than it ever did, by far. Getting to spend time alone with our own musical personalities has helped us mature.” “There’s a joyful aspect to Nickel Creek no matter what we’re doing. Things just steer themselves into that sort of place,” concurs Thile. “We will go poke around in the dark corners but always with a heavy dose of optimism.”Formed in 1989 when Thile and Sara Watkins were eight years old and Sean Watkins (Sara’s older brother) was eleven, Nickel Creek earned a loyal following playing the festival circuit for nearly a decade. The band’s self-titled debut album was released in 2000 to commercial and critical acclaim: it sold nearly one million copies, and Time called the trio “music innovators for the new millennium.” Nickel Creek released two more records: 2002’s This Side, which won a Best Contemporary Folk Album Grammy, and 2005’s Why Should the Fire Die?. Beginning as bluegrass child prodigies, Nickel Creek grew into an acoustic band known for its breadth of musical influences—from Bach to Radiohead—and its surprisingly large sound on stage. The New York Times described their music as “postmodern” and “polystylistic,” and USA Today said, “This acoustic trio moves farther and farther from anything Bill Monroe would have recognized as bluegrass...” The band members always explored their own solo work as well as collaborations, which they were able to pursue more fully during their hiatus, and will continue to do.TICKETS ON SALE NOWReserved Seat Tickets: $49.50 / $39.50 / $29.50Old National Centre Box Office | www.oldnationalcentre.com

For the first time at the annual Coors Light Carb Day concert, three bands will deliver an afternoon of great music at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Popular rock groups Jane’s Addiction, O.A.R. and 38 Special will perform at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, May 22, on the Turn 4 Coors Light stage in the IMS infield.

The thrilling concert is free with Coors Light Carb Day admission of $30; fans wanting the closest access to the stage in the Coors Light Concert Pit can purchase a $10 upgrade.

New and upgraded experiences abound for fans this year, from the trio of musical acts to various viewing perspectives. The Coors Light Concert Pit is available for those wanting to be closest to the bands, while the exclusive Carb Day Party Deck (starting at $100) offers a VIP experience including an elevator for easy access to an upper-level, partially shaded view of the concert stage, exclusive concessions and permanent private restrooms. For more information on these various areas and to purchase, visit IMS.com.

“The combination of these three bands will provide the perfect musical entertainment for everyone anxious to kickoff their Indianapolis 500 race weekend activities,” said J. Douglas Boles, Indianapolis Motor Speedway president. “Coors Light Carb Day has become a huge fan favorite during the Month of May providing something for everyone, and we look forward to seeing another enthusiastic crowd this year.”

Jane’s Addiction, known as the Godfathers of Alternative Rock, headline the concert. The Grammy- and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-nominated group is comprised of founding members Perry Farrell (vocals), Dave Navarro (guitar) and Stephen Perkins (drums), along with longstanding bassist Chris Chaney.

Jane’s Addiction burst on the music scene in the summer of 1988 with the release of their first studio album “Nothing’s Shocking.” The groundbreaking debut album featured the classic hit “Jane Says” along with other Jane's favorites such as “Idiot’s Rule,” “Had A Dad,” “Ted Just Admit It,” and “Summertime Rolls.” Songs that demonstrated the band’s affinity for exploring a wide variety of musical genres that have included heavy metal, punk rock, British indie, industrial, faux lounge jazz, rap and progressive rock.

Jane’s Addiction passed into legend early and by design. They broke up after six years together in 1991 at the height of their popularity, but not before headlining the inaugural Lollapalooza, which has become an annual music festival tour featuring alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock and hip hop bands.

Since reuniting, Jane’s Addiction has remained a frighteningly powerful live band that endures as an ever-exploring recording act that keeps rock and roll unpredictable, inspiring, dangerous and constantly moving forward.

O.A.R. (Of A Revolution) is renowned for its intense, vibrant live show – including selling out Madison Square Garden in New York City twice – and the communal feeling it shares with its fans. With each studio album, the band has endeavored to achieve that sense of immediacy.

The band, known for hit singles “Shattered” “Heaven” and “Love and Memories,” released its eighth studio album, “The Rockville LP,” in 2014 featuring the lead single “Peace” written by lead singer Marc Roberge, who founded O.A.R. in 1996 with his Rockville, Maryland, high school classmates: drummer Chris Culos, guitarist Richard On and bassist Benj Gershman. Roberge wrote “Peace” with Blair Daly and Nashville-based producer Nathan Chapman, best known for his work with Taylor Swift.

Proceeds generated from O.A.R.’s 25-city tour last summer with “American Idol” Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips were donated to Habitat for Humanity.

38 Special originated in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1974, when buddies Don Barnes and Donnie Van Zant decided to form a band. They have released 15 albums in a 40-year career, touring relentlessly since the ’70s, sharing their blend of Southern Blues Rock with fans around the world.

After more than three decades together, 38 Special continues to bring their signature blast of Southern Rock to more than 100 cities a year. 38 Special’s numerous Gold and Platinum album awards stand in testament to the endurance of a legendary powerhouse.

With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate 38 Special with their arena-rock pop smashes, “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” and more – all timeless and immediately recognizable hits that remain radio staples paving the way to their present-day touring regimen.

Coors Light Carb Day will conclude with the Jane’s Addiction, O.A.R. and 38 Special show capping a fun and exciting day at IMS. Also scheduled are the final practice for the 33 starters in the 99th Running of the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race, the Indy Lights Freedom 100 race and the popular Tag Heuer Pit Stop Challenge.

The 2015 Indianapolis 500 is scheduled for noon (ET) Sunday, May 24. ***

As a complement to Tonic Ball, Tiny Tonic offers little rockers the chance to party and fight hunger, too.

About Second Helpings

The anticipation and the wait is almost over as a restored new, premier music and special events center will open its doors this May in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Clyde Theatre today announced its first round of upcoming concerts and on-sale dates and will continue to announce and roll out shows on an ongoing basis.

Located in Quimby Village on the Southwest side of downtown Fort Wayne, the Clyde Theatre will provide a unique opportunity for fans to experience some of their favorite touring artists and performers who might not have normally made a stop in Fort Wayne in the past. The Clyde Theatre is a stunning venue and art deco masterpiece that has survived the test of time. The former movie theater, originally built in 1951, will now consist of a main performance hall featuring a large footprint of more than 21,000 square feet of floor space and will be utilized as a 2,150-capacity general admission concert hall and multi-functional special events center.

Rick Kinney, General Manager of The Clyde Theatre and Even Keel Event Productions stated, ““We’re excited to announce this first wave of concerts to help establish the Clyde Theatre as Fort Wayne’s premier music venue. This is a small sample of what people can expect in the years ahead as we bring in national touring artists covering a wide variety of musical tastes and genres. It’s important to us that we connect Fort Wayne concert lovers to new and up-and-coming acts while also bringing in classic and well-known artists. Stay tuned, because we’ll be announcing even more performances in the weeks to come!”

Sweetwater, the #1 online retailer of music instruments and audio gear in the U.S., has played a key role in the rebirth of the Clyde Theater. Sweetwater Founder and President, Chuck Surack shared, “We are excited to have helped create a venue that prioritizes the experience for both the attendees and the artists. With the venue featuring open sightlines and a world class sound and lighting system, concerts at the Clyde Theatre will be truly outstanding."

The experience for touring artists, and their crew, has also been a top priority in the renovation of the Clyde Theatre. The backstage area features a 7,000 square foot dressing room and artist hospitality wing for performers, and also a stage extension and updated production loading docks that will help make for a smooth load-in and load-out for each show.

The Clyde Theatre will also be available for rent for community related activities and special events on non-concert days.

MOKB Presents has announced details and the lineup for the inaugural two-day music event Holler On The Hill that is set to take place on Saturday and Sunday, September 22-23 in Indianapolis at historic Garfield Park. The event will feature headlining performances by critically acclaimed six-piece soul outfit St. Paul & The Broken Bones and emerging indie-rock band Moon Taxi plus over 30 national, regional, and local performers. Tickets to the two-day music gathering are on sale now at holleronthehill.com.

Holler On The Hill is committed to bringing a diverse mix of Americana, folk and alt-country’s beloved veterans and rising young stars to Indianapolis. The two-day event will feature over 30 artists performing across three stages including St Paul & The Broken Bones, Moon Taxi, Colter Wall, Amanda Shires, Jamestown Revival, Hayes Carll, Blitzen Trapper, John Paul White, Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, Jade Bird, Billy Strings, Jesse Dayton, Detroit Cobras, Otis Gibbs Band, Whiskey Wolves of the West, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Lera Lynn, Israel Nash, Emily West, Brandon Whyde and more. A full day by day lineup can be found at holleronthehill.com.

Local artisans and makers will join select local restaurants, food trucks and farmers market vendors throughout the festival. Adult guests will enjoy Indiana-made craft beer and cider selections, as well as multiple full service bar locations.

TICKETS

Fans have the option to purchase single day general admission or reserved seating tickets, as well as 2-day festival passes.  A limited amount of single day, general admission 4-packs are available while supplies last. Tickets are on sale now at holleronthehill.com.

The boutique music gathering will offer a limited capacity of only 5,000 tickets per day. The smaller, down-home feel aligns with Holler On The Hill’s community-driven mission. With affordable prices and a communal aesthetic, it’s best described as equal parts neighborhood picnic, family reunion and music festival. Holler On The Hill was born from the notion that music festivals should be inclusive, and focus on attracting groups rather than individuals. Organizers encourage friends, families, and neighbors to attend together.

A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit five community organizations including the Indiana Farmers Union, Indiana Forest Alliance, Hoosier Organic Marketing Education (HOME), Garfield Park Farmers Market, and Indianapolis Parks Foundation.

“When I first stepped foot inside Garfield Park’s MacAllister Amphitheater, nearly 10 years ago, I wondered why this incredible space wasn’t hosting a great music festival,” said Josh Baker, Holler On The Hill curator and founder. “I had this vision of a small but mighty gathering of die-hard working class music lovers eating, singing, drinking together in a laid back family reunion-like atmosphere. With music as the centerpiece, Holler On The Hill provides a much-needed stewardship opportunity to support two causes I’m extremely passionate about: local agriculture and conservation.”

Baker adds “At this intersection of concerts and farming, I wanted to invite my worlds to collide and unite in an event space that was always meant to belong to everyone. It’s our duty to give back and support the challenges facing our local family farms, the logging issues facing Indiana forests and the community groups that align with these ideals. I’m beyond excited to have the opportunity to contribute to several underserved organizations and have a direct impact on the well-being of our state.”

With concerts including Motown legend Smokey Robinson, Scotty McCreery, Trombone Shorty, Kenny G, En Vogue, and 10 fantastic orchestra concerts (including the always popular Star-Spangled Symphony), there is something for every musical taste on this year’s lineup on the Prairie.
