The same folks that bring you the musical mayhem of Dance Party Time Machine, Love Shack, and School’s Out are back with their original creation.  Way back in 2011 J2G Live decided that the music of the 90′s needed to be celebrated, and “Foolin’ Around in the 90′s” was born. That first event was such a success that it birthed the whole J2G Live brand and a series of innovative live events that have enthralled the Front Range for the last five years.

As the hair bands of the 80’s receded into the mist of Seattle’s Grunge scene, Hip-Hop, dancing diva’s and boy bands hit the mainstream.  No matter your flavor, the music of the 90’s offered a little something for everyone and now it’s time to relive it all…again!

After a three year hiatus, “Revenge of the 90’s” is returning to Cervantes’ Ballroom in Denver and the party is going to be bigger and better than ever.  “Revenge of the 90′s IV” will feature dozens of musicians from bands like The Disco Biscuits, Lettuce, SunSquabi, YAMN, Fox Street, Analog Son, and many more coming together to pay tribute to all types of music from the decade.

Since there are 10 years and countless genres to choose from, “Revenge of The 90′s IV” won’t be just a repeat of a great party, but an entirely new experience. The great thing about these songs is their ability to evoke emotion. They will make you think of your senior prom, the best spring break you ever had, the first person who broke your heart, or the best day you ever had ditching school. The 90′s are starting to seem like a long time ago and some of the songs have had nearly 25 years to root themselves in our collective consciousness. So strap on a hover board and flash back with some of the best musicians our scene has to offer.

The main event will feature members of The Disco Biscuits, Lettuce, SunsSquabi, YAMN, Fox Street, Analog Son, Tiger Party, Magic Beans, SuCH, Super Magick, Ableminds, Jonah Wisneski, Rally Round The Family, Home, 40 Oz To Freedom and more....

Don’t miss it…

TIGER PARTY is a musical collective led by keyboardist Blake Mobley & vocalist Ashley Niven featuring a diverse group of musicians from across the county. Since its conception, Tiger Party has welcomed members of STS9, Lotus, The Disco Biscuits, JRAD, The Motet, Analog Son, along with a myriad of other artists from coast to coast. The rotating cast of musicians creates a unique vibe at every show so as the lineup changes, so does the music. With the release of their 3rd studio effort, ‘True North’, Tiger Party is once again on the prowl and no dance floor is safe.

STREAM TRUE NORTH ON SOUNDCLOUD HERE

After releasing their self-titled debut album in 2013 and 'Made of Stars' in 2014, Tiger Party continues its journey with the 2016 release of ‘True North’. While Ashley’s fingerprints can be found all over ‘Made of Stars’, ‘True North’ marks the first true collaboration between her and Blake. With Blake laying the foundation, the songs for ‘True North’ truly took form once Ashley brought her sultry vocals and fresh ideas to the table. Once Tiger Party hit Scanhope Sound Studios, bassist/sound engineer/producer Joshua Fairman added his unique vision to the mix and along with the help of some talented musician friends, these songs began to point towards ‘True North’.

From the seductive but driving, “No Chance” to the irresistible “If I Told You” and dancey tracks like “Gold Rising Higher” (feat. Devon Parker) and “Dance Machine”, the album showcases a wide range of dynamics while keeping a strong cohesive feel. Whether listening on headphones, in the car, through your system at home, or in the club, Tiger Party will help guide you towards your True North.

To Celebrate the release of ‘True North’, Tiger Party will be performing at some very special Album Release Parties in Colorado.

J2G Live is proud to announce the Dance Party Time Machine's official involvement in Electron's 2017 CO Run including stops at The Gothic Theater, The Aggie, Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom, and The Barkley Ballroom.

At first glance, you might mistake Electron for an all star super-group. With a lineup featuring Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner from the Disco Biscuits, Mike Greenfield from Lotus and Tom Hamilton from JRAD and American Babies, Electron is working with some of the most experienced talent in the jamband world.

What started as an avenue for Brownstein, with the support of his closest musician friends, to showcase a collection of songs he had written while briefly separated from The Disco Biscuits in 2000, soon morphed into what many have called "the best band that doesn't exist!" The band originally featured Joe Russo on drums, and has long been known for playing explosive versions of Brownstein's songs.

These days, armed with one of the best drummers in the Jamtronica world, Electron has begun to expand their influence across the country. What was once the best kept secret in the Jamband world has begun to establish themselves as a mainstay at some of the biggest festivals in the USA. 2016 was been the biggest year yet for Electron, having played huge shows on Jam Cruise, Peach Fest, Disc Jam, Beanstalk, Catskill Chill and more. It is safe to say that the secret is out.

On top of their yearly romp through some of Colorado's favorite venues, BWGS and J2G Live welcome  Marc, Aron, Tom, and Mike (along with Marc and Aron's Disco Biscuits band mate, Allen Aucoin) to The Dance Party Time Machine, a one of a kind musical journey through the greatest dance party hits of all time.  From Rock n Roll's roots, Soul and R&B Classics, Disco, Funk, 80s Pop, 90s Hip Hop, to the Club Bangers of today and everything in between,  nothing is out of reach of the Dance Party Time Machine.  Colorado is like a second home to the band and with the help of some of the states most beloved musicians (including members of YAMN, Fox Street, Tiger Party, Analog Son, Kinetix, The Magic Beans, Dynohunter, SuCh, Other worlds and more) this will be the best Dance Party Time Machine yet.

You can catch Electron at The Gothic Theater in Denver on 3/23, The Aggie in Fort Collins on 3/24, The Barkley Ballroom on 3/26 and of course as part of the Dance Party Time Machine at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom on Saturday 3/25.

Mike Greenfield, Drummer, Lotus:

That's a tough question, but a standout for me is Clyde Stubblefield's break from "Funky Drummer" by James Brown.  It is now one of the most sampled beats of all time so it has become somewhat commonplace, but I remember hearing it when I first started playing and being dumbfounded that a drummer could play something so incredible. Stubblefield  just passed last month so it is especially meaningful for me to revisit this classic.”

jordan.jpg

Jordan Linit, Guitar, Analog Son:

Don't stop til you get enough is pure perfection in the form of a poppy funk masterpiece.  From the simplicity of the 1 chord Verse which perfectly pieces together like a puzzle the funkiest rhythm section groove of 2 guitars, bass, drums, and keys with smooth vocals floating on top, to the gospel influence Bridge with soaring leads amazing harmony.  Definitely one of my all time favorites."

such.jpg

Su Charles, Singer, SuCH:

My favorite DPTM song/performance was Love Never Felt so good.  I mean you just can't go wrong with the King of Pop! I'm also a huge fan of call and response and I'll never forget how awesome it was to do that with the audience on this song :) It'll always have a special place in my heart!“

bone.jpg

Brian Hamilton, Guitar, YAMN:

I would have to say that the favorite songs for me are the hidden gems. Take a song like “What is love” for instance. At first glance it may seem a bit  cliche and cheesy. Yet, after a group of musicians like these take it and make it their own, it gives way to some of the most interesting improv of the night. Giving a very fun,  unique experience for us and the fans.”

skippy.jpg

Jonathan Huvard, Guitar/Singer, Fox Street:

It's almost impossible for me to pick an all- time favorite dance party tune. My current favorite has got be Chaka Khan's version of "We Can Work It Out". Chaka always slams, and everything from the band to the horn arrangements is just too damn funky!"

Marc Brownstein, Bass, The Disco Biscuits:

I mean, the best dance song of all time is Thriller, so any conversation needs to start there... of course I was luckily able to do the Vincent Price part at the last DPTM!"

jonah.jpg

Jonah Wisneski, Guitar, Other Worlds:

Although there are many, and I can't say this is THE end all be all, but a favorite of mine would be "Eminence Front" by The Who. Their response to the 80's was led by running an organ through an arpeggiator yielding a grooved out British rock anthem with funky overtones.”

Eric Low, Drums, Fox Street:

I think you pose the existential question of, "what defines a good dance party song?" I think its a convergence of our social, cultural, and personal experiences and tastes all leading up to a moment.  Geography also plays a large role into this question as well. We could see very different songs played at a dance party in Norway vs. South Korea vs. Rio.  To classify this into a single idea would be dubious at best.  With that being said, I think there is one true answer...The Meters”

Eric Luba, Keyboards, Runnikine:

My favorite dance track definitely has to be "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough." Michael Jackson is the king for a reason, and everyone who hears this song immediately goes bananas and starts dancing. The horn lines and the groove really make the song fun to play, so it's always a fun song for the crowd and musicians alike. I'm not sure I enjoy anything about playing synth strings, but this is a song where it doesn't phase me in the least; they add so much richness to the texture. This song makes you wanna get down!”

James Dumm, Guitar, Fox Street:

I Was Made For Loving You" KISS... But seriously, anything by Prince gets it going on: Controversy, Shockadelica, I Feel For You, I Wanna Be Your Lover, the list goes on forever. Or James Brown."

David Duart, Bass, YAMN:

Papa is a rolling stone by the temptations That bass line has so much space in it and yet so funky. Then as the song continues, the funk guitar layers in. Once the vocals pop in, it's pure groove. “

Charlie Mertens, Bass:

To me, the most perfectly crafted dance party song of all time to get the party started is "Rock with You" - by MJ, Quincy, & Termperton...you know it's obviously time to dance from the very first note and the song just keeps building the energy from beginning to end

casey.jpg

Casey Russell, Keyboards, The Magic Beans:

Controversy! Sexy synth, sexy vocals and prince is the best.”

colleen.jpg

Colleen Christmas-Gardner, Singer:

Frankie Beverly and Maze "Before I let go".  It's a great song for two steppin'.“

me.jpg

Gary Mellini, J2G Live:

Without a doubt my favorite dance party song of all time is “Machine Gun” by The Commodores. It’s one of those songs that grooves so hard you can put it on repeat for hours and nobody will say a word about it. We did that one a few shows back and to have Allen, Marc, and Aron from The Disco Biscuits playing that song with these guys was both a personal and professional highlight I will never forget.”
