Last summer, UK indie band The Loft Club supported Oasis legend Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds at Powderham Castle. Playing for the massive crowd, they “got the party started with gusto,” according to the Daily Mirror. This summer – with the easing of lockdown restrictions – they reach new heights in the official video for “Heard Her Say,” playing atop Britain’s historic Lawrence Castle, overlooking the Devon countryside. View the video HERE. The track, which American Songwriter premiered last week, is from the band’s forthcoming debut album, Dreaming The Impossible.

The Loft Club frontman/songwriter Daniel Schamroth says, “The castle is not far from our hometown of Exeter. It's a beautiful location and we are lucky enough to be the first band to ever film a music video at the venue. Alice Deuchar, our director,  pulled some serious strings to get us in there for the day!” Also known as The Haldon Belvedere, the beloved landmark was built in 1788, at the height of the Romantic Period of the Georgian Age, and sits high in the hills of Haldon Forest.

American Songwriter observed, “Energetically arranged, and harmoniously lit in its sha-la-las, ‘Heard Her Say’ is a necessary jolt everyone needs right now. Get up. Get out, and experience life…any uncertainty and fear is weaved into something wholly uplifting, leaving off on a universal message to enjoy the ‘ride’ of life and take in its beauty as much as possible.“ Schamroth talks about the genesis of the track, and how Tom Petty, Neil Young, and Eckhart Tolle have informed his approach to songwriting, in the accompanying feature, which can be found HERE.

Dreaming The Impossible is an album made for headphones – equal parts indie rock/folk-rock with flashes of sixties guitar psychedelia, nineties Brit-pop and alt-country. All woven together with wide open chords, sing-along choruses, a lightness of touch, and an uplifting spirit. Recorded at Middle Farm Studios in Devon, England with producer James Bragg (Jack Steadman, The Skints), Dreaming The Impossible will be released worldwide on August 7 by Lightyear Entertainment, through Caroline/UMG, in association with UK label So Let’s Talk. Fans who pre-order the album will instantly receive “Heard Her Say.” Pre-order HERE.

The Loft Club – consisting of Daniel Schamroth (guitar/vocals), Jamie Whyte (bass/vocals), Kieran Chalmers (drums), Josie Stoneman (vocals) and Sam Piper (lead guitar) – draws on classic themes like love, loss, friendship and nature with an uncommon timelessness. Schamroth wrote the first 11 songs on Dreaming The Impossible and co-wrote the previously released album closer, “Flicker,” with GRAMMY®-winner Lisa Loeb. “Flicker” made Record of the Day on the prestigious ROTD (recordoftheday.com).

Clash Magazine observed, “The Loft Club have a sense of classicism running through their music...that chiming guitar sound, so redolent of everyone from The Byrds…[to] Big Star.” BBC Introducing declared the band “nothing short of sensational.” StephenKPeeples.com pronounced the album “all killer, no filler.”

Rick Braun – the new self-titled album from the chart-topping multi-instrumentalist – performs strong out of the gate, retaining its position among the top five biggest-selling Current Contemporary Jazz Albums, according to MRC Data, for the second consecutive week while the lead single, dancefloor anthem “Feet First,” continues to be a fixture at radio. Download / stream the album HERE.

After launching the album with two sold-out shows at Spaghettini’s in Seal Beach, CA, Braun continues his U.S. tour tonight at Blue Note Napa in Northern California – the first evening of a two-night stand. See below for itinerary or visit https://www.rickbraun.com/tour. Check out Braun’s recent appearance on the award-winning podcast “Straight No Chaser” HERE.

Jazz Times noted, “Rick Braun has established himself as one of the most popular and prolific artists within the smooth-jazz genre…But his commercial success belies a strong affinity and facility for mainstream jazz.” AllMusic.com said, “Rick Braun is known for his warm blend of lyrical, Miles Davis-style improvisation and hooky, R&B-infused grooves…[his] romantic and finely rendered eponymous 2022 album…is one of his most organic and stylistically balanced recordings, moving from Sketches of Spain-esque Latin balladry (‘Amor de Mi Vida’) to soulful club jams (‘Da Funk’) with a laid-back ease.”

Jazz Weekly found the album “filled with impressive chops and relentless grooves.” Music Connection praised the “multi-faceted, self-titled urban funk/jazz meets exotica set.” Smooth Jazz Therapy said, “The urgently intense ‘Da Funk’ is a horn fueled delight and this multi-dimensional tour de force gains further texture with the big brassy ‘Four On The Floor.’”

Released via his own indie label, Brauntosoarus Music, Rick Braun comes 30 years after his debut album, Intimate Secrets, propelled Braun from sideman for everyone from Crowded House, Tom Petty and Sade to Tina Turner, Rod Stewart and Glenn Frey to chart-topping front man and acclaimed producer. Braun has amassed over 20 No. 1 Smooth Jazz hits (including “Notorious" and "Grazin’ in the Grass"), produced No. 1’s for David Benoit, Marc Antoine and the late Jeff Golub, created two of the genre’s most impactful dual albums ever (Shake It Up with Boney James, RnR with Richard Elliot) and recorded three hit albums as part of the all-star trio BWB (with Kirk Whalum and Norman Brown).
