Announcing Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell, Tom Rush, Peter Case, Ruthie Foster, John Fullbright as part of the 2015 44th annual Kerrville Folk Festival lineup. Located at Quiet Valley Ranch, nine miles south of the Texas Hill Country resort community of Kerrville, this legendary songwriter’s festival will run for 18 straight days, from Thursday, May 21 through Sunday, June 7, 2015. Festival Producer Dalis Allen has put together another schedule of great songwriters from around the globe. Here’s a sampling of artists confirmed to appear with many more to be revealed in the next couple of weeks.

As usual, the 2015 Grassy Hill Kerrville New Folk Competition for emerging songwriters will be held on the first Saturday and Sunday of the festival (May 23rd

and 24th), from 1 to 4PM.  From the almost 600 entries, 32 finalists will be selected to perform in this prestigious annual competition, hosted by Steve Gillette. Several former New Folk finalists and winners include Lucinda Williams, Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, David Wilcox, John Gorka, Jimmy LaFave, Tish Hinojosa, BettySoo, Tom Prasada-Rao, Danny Schmidt, Jonathan Byrd, Tom Russell, Ray Bonneville, Steve Earle, Hal Ketchum, Robert Earl Keen and many hundreds of others.

Held each year since 1972, the Kerrville Folk Festival is the longest continuously running festival of its kind in North America.  Over the years it has become known internationally as a Mecca for singer songwriters of varying musical styles… a place where those just beginning to develop their skills have the opportunity to play their music alongside those who are masters. Emerging songwriters as well as teachers are drawn to the festival’s many learning opportunities, such as the 35th Annual Songwriters School, the Roots / Blues Guitar Workshop, Harmonica Workshop, Ukulele Workshop, a Music Law Panel Discussion, and the 14th Annual Professional Development Program for Teachers.

There’s truly something for everyone at this festival, from camping, campfire jam sessions, concerts and activities for kids, “Ballad Tree” song sharing sessions, Hill Country bike rides and canoe trips on the Guadalupe to Sunday Folk Song Services, Saturday Shabbat Services and much more. The Kerrville Fall Music festival is Labor Day weekend September 4 - 6, 2015. Three days of songwriters from around the country including many favorites John Gorka, Peter Case, Eric Taylor, Dana Cooper, Chuck Pyle, Gretchen Peters, Shake Russell and some newcomers like Dana Louise & the Glorious Birds (Dana is the daughter of Ezra Idlet, one half of the famed duo Trout Fishing in America. They will both be playing with Dana as ‘The Birds’). Returning after much time back in their home in Australia is Bluehouse, a duo with independent record sales exceeding 100,000 units and a self-sustaining and highly successful national and international touring circuit for over 20 years. The Tejas Brothers close out Friday night with fun Tex-Mex Honky Tonk get up and dance music.

This event includes seminars and tasting booths for Texas wines and Texas Microbrews. The seminar for Texas wines and food pairings will be on Saturday from 3:30 - 5:30PM and the seminar for Microbrews on Sunday at the same time. The Crafts Booths in the Kennedy Theater Main Stage are staffed with wine makers and brew masters and a choice of tastings during the evening concerts. 

A VIP Party ticket package is also available. Included in the package are tickets for the 3 day Festival, heavy hors-d'oeuvres buffet, adult beverages all three nights and private access to a hosted area in the back of the main Kennedy Outdoor Theater. Also included is a gift bag with Festival memorabilia, new and historic.
