Mardi Gras is Back in Minneapolis with Fat Friday at the Skyway Theatre with sets from Eric Krasno, Black Market Brass, PHO, Cornmeal and many more!

Eric Krasno For nearly two decades, Eric Krasno has been an omnipresent figure in popular music. We've heard his virtuosic, innovative guitar playing with Soulive and Lettuce (both of which he co-founded), seen him onstage supporting the likes of the Rolling Stones and The Roots, watched him take home multiple GRAMMY Awards, and benefited from his deft, behind-the-scenes work as a producer and songwriter for everyone from Norah Jones, Tedeschi Trucks, and 50 Cent to Talib Kweli, Aaron Neville, and Allen Stone. Krasno's rousing new solo album, 'Blood From A Stone,' reveals a previously unknown and utterly compelling side of his artistry, though, inviting us to bear witness as he both literally and metaphorically finds his voice.

Black Market Brass In 2013 Secret Stash Records released BMB’s debut single to critical acclaim within the collector and DJ communities. The bible of all things funky, Wax Poetics, declared the record to be “Heavy Nigerian Madness.” Flea Market Funk raved “This is some authentic music right here people, recorded in the United States. Inspired by the likes of The Funkees, The Black President, and Moussa Doumbia as much as James Brown and The Meters, this Twin Cities dozen (and sometimes more) is shoveling out their musical path with their unique sounds.” The entire pressing quickly sold out as Secret Stash shipped copies around the globe while BMB slang copies from the stage after shows throughout the Midwest.

PHO 2015 was a groundbreaking year for PHO. They released their debut album 'CASH IT' in February and created lasting buzz for recording such a mature and creative record as early 20 year olds. They reached out to friends Alan Evans of Soulive and John Davis, producer for Lettuce/Jo Jo Mayer to help achieve a sound that would resonate internationally. They have supported and toured with bands such as The Motet, Larry Graham and GCS, Jonathan Richman, Dopapod, and Oddisee. In early Early 2016 Prince found the band via Youtube and posted about them on his social media. This sparked a huge buzz for PHO around the globe and landed them an invite to Prince's Paisley Park Studio's opening for Larry Graham. Pho’s new single Dr. Drake released this week to rave reviews. Expect big things moving forward from this group in 2017 as they prepare to release their sophomore effort ‘two’.

Cornmeal A nationally recognized live music institution, Cornmeal is heavily influenced by American roots and folk music and seamlessly blends lightning fast tempos and impeccable harmonies into an unrivaled live performance that continues to expand upon the five-piece acoustic-electric groups’ vast musical repertoire. While steeped in the tradition of the past, Cornmeal continues to forge a path all their own, pushing the boundaries of bluegrass, Americana and folk for a whole new generation of music lovers. With a growing fan base and ever-evolving sound, Cornmeal challenges the recipe of bluegrass and live performance. After many false starts the long awaited studio album, Slow Street, was released May 29th, 2015. The new record features 10 original tracks and a host of guests musicians including Anders Beck of Greensky Bluegrass on dobro. Recorded in Chicago the album clocks in at over 60 minutes of acoustic/electric landscapes and improvised jams. Balancing the energy and feel of a their one of a kind live shows with the articulation and precision of studio production, Slow Street is an album that was well worth waiting for.

Greg Koch and the Koch-Marshall Trio consist of American guitarist Greg Koch, his son Dylan Koch on drums and Hammond B3 specialist Toby Lee Marshall. At the heart of this organ trio is a blues sensibility - but Koch's compositions are an amalgam of rock, funk, jazz and country served up with heavy grooves and dynamic improvisations delivered with no small dose of humor and occasional wild abandon.

The trio blends the explosive guitar manipulations of Greg, the groove-centric, power-pocket playing of his son Dylan on drums (who share many telepathic musical moments) and the glorious, Hammond organ stylings of the uber-talented Toby Marshall, Greg’s compositions are properly portrayed in the blues-drenched, funk, chicken-fried, gospelly, jazz-rock panorama in which they were conceived. Their first release, “Toby Arrives” the first moments of their unexpected musical partnership captured at an extemporaneous jam session earlier in the year.

“I believe Greg Koch is pound for pound the best guitar player in the world today. His, tone, feel and style are unrivaled in today’s guitar playing community. He is scary good. It was a true honor to do shows with him.”
- Joe Bonamassa

Mark Joseph was Inspired and forever changed by witnessing the virtuosity of “The King of Blues” (BB King). Shortly after he was gifted his first guitar in 1991, at the ripe age of 10. The subsequent decades, two thousand plus live shows, five full length albums and multiple EP’s, have permanently written Mark Joseph into the sonic history he was inspired by so many years ago. Yet the blues was the common thread throughout for this Minnesota born singer, songwriter, and guitarist.

2020 finds Mark Joseph showing no signs of slowing down with the recent release of his new full length album, “The Musician and the Muse”. The blues is front and center as Joseph explores both his expansive songwriting skills, and his explosive ability to make the guitar sing, cry, or even challenge fans to question what is possible with a pic and some strings. In collaboration with the prolific and accomplished LA based producer Steve McCormick, this record is a true snapshot in time, building upon the blues of the past, yet carving out a place for Joseph that is uniquely his own.

The Musician & The Muse features guest appearances from: - Richie Hayward (Little Feat) Drums on "Walk To The Water" - Stanley Behrens (WAR/Canned Heat / Willie Dixon) on Harmonica - John Avila (Oingo Bingo/Lukas Nelson/Neil Young) on Bass - Toby Lee Marshall (Koch-Marshall Trio) on Hammond Organ

“The Blues is my home. A place filled with emotions, the past... an uncertain future. Dark, light, it’s all there.” - Mark Jose

MJG Productions has announced tour plans for a new collaborative trio that will feature Tim Carbone (Railroad Earth), Elliott Peck (Midnight North, Phil Lesh’s Terrapin Family Band), and LoHi Records recording artist, Pat Ferguson.

The Ferguson, Carbone, & Peck trio is set to launch their inaugural tour this Summer with five shows in Colorado at the end of June, followed by six dates across the Midwest at the end of July.

Tim Carbone, renowned producer and multi-instrumentalist for Railroad Earth and The High Hawks (whose self-titled debut record is due out June 11, 2021 on LoHi Records), had this to say about this new collaboration:

“I couldn't be more excited to make some music with these two brilliant songwriters and musicians! It's a beautiful bonus that they are both humans of gem like quality,” said Carbone.

“Tim and Elliott really have become two of my favorite people, musicians, and collaborators alike,” added Pat Ferguson. “I’m so thrilled to hit the road with them this Summer and stretch the collaborative legs of this new trio.”

Carbone and Peck had finished 2019 in the studio with Ferguson, recording his sophomore LP at Mix-o-Lydian Studios in Delaware Water Gap, PA. That record is produced by Tim Carbone, and features Peck along with Bobby Gronna (People Brothers Band), Carey Harmon (Railroad Earth), Jacob Jolliff, Kenny Leiser (Joseph Huber), Teresa Marie (People Brothers Band), Tony Marino (Phil Woods Quintet), Mike Robinson (Railroad Earth), Kevin Rowe (Buffalo Gospel), and banjo great Tony Trischka. The LP is a batch of 8 new tunes set to be released on LoHi Records sometime in late 2021.

When the pandemic hit, the trio continued to write, create, and record together throughout 2020 and earlier this year released a collaborative single, The Confidence Man; an anthem fit for the times and released in January via LoHi Records.

An entirely remote, pandemic-era collaboration from their respective home studios, The Confidence Man was pointed, powerful, and critically acclaimed, with an output of excitement that had this trio ready to hit the road together.

Ferguson, Carbone, & Peck will be on the road this Summer 2021, with the full schedule found here:
