Beloved singer-songwriter Pete Yorn announces Caretakers his first solo album in three years and his most spontaneous collection to date out August 9 via his new label Shelly Music. Produced with Jackson Phillips of the celebrated indie rock band Day Wave, the album finds Yorn trusting his gut and working from instinct more than ever before. Many of the tracks were written and recorded start-to-finish in a prolific series of single-day sessions that balanced freewheeling exploration with careful, deliberate craftsmanship. Consequence Of Sound calls the new music “entirely entertaining;” listen to the full interview HERE. Last week, Thrasher Magazine premiered the “dreamy” retro skate video for “Can’t Stop You.” Watch that HERE.

“Calm Down,” the first single off Caretakers was released earlier this month. Watch the lyric video HERE.

“These songs are designed to grow with you,” explains Yorn. “They’re all anchored in particular moments, but they blast off from there, so what they mean to you on any given day might evolve. They’re built to have that flexibility.”

Earlier this year, Yorn performed a string of SOLD OUT shows on his “You and Me” solo acoustic tour including the famous Troubadour in his adopted hometown of Los Angeles. Denver’s Westword praised Yorn’s music, calling it “irresistible." Yorn also stopped by the acclaimed ACL Live in Austin, TX for a session and taped a Skyline session at Houston Public Media. Watch Pete perform “Calm Down” and “Can’t Stop You” on Houston Public Media HERE.

Yorn is equally indebted to Bruce Springsteen’s blue-collar introspection as Lou Reed’s deadpan stream-of-consciousness. He first broke out in 2001 with his extraordinary Columbia Records debut, Musicforthemorningafter, which was hailed by NPR as one of the year’s finest and Rolling Stone praised it as “atmospheric, gently lit by sunlight and regret.” In the decades that followed, Yorn solidified his status as a songwriters’ songwriter, releasing five more solo albums and collaborating in the studio with everyone from Frank Black and Peter Buck to Liz Phair and Scarlett Johansson (Yorn and Johansson’s joint 2009 release, ‘Break Up,’ went Platinum in France). Yorn has performed on a plethora of TV shows including Letterman, Fallon, Kimmel, Ellen and more; as well as sharing the stage on tours with artists as varied as R.E.M., Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, Foo Fighters and The Dixie Chicks, and festival slots from Coachella and Bonnaroo to Glastonbury and Austin City Limits.

Last month, beloved singer-songwriter Pete Yorn released Caretakers (via Shelly Music), his first solo album in three years. This November and December, Pete will hit the road on his first full band tour of North America in over three years with a backing band made up of members of the celebrated indie dream-pop group Day Wave, including Jackson Phillips who co-produced Caretakers with Yorn. They will perform songs off the new album, as well as old favorites spanning Yorn’s almost 20 year career and the 7 full length studio albums he has released.

Tickets are now on sale for both the full band tour as well as a string of solo acoustic dates on the West Coast in October, and include limited edition options to purchase VIP backstage experiences where fans can meet Yorn, watch soundcheck and even attend a pre-show performance of a song in the dressing room. See full tour schedule below.

Since his extraordinary 2001 debut album musicforthemorningafter, Yorn has released six albums of angsty, critically acclaimed rock. The multi-instrumentalist took some time off after 2016's ArrangingTime to raise his daughter - the period did produce an EP collaboration with actress Scarlett Johansson (2018's Apart) - but a recent burst of creativity led to Caretakers. Yorn attributes the inspiration to Phillips, with whom he developed a good studio vibe. "When we met," says Yorn, "it was one of those interactions where we locked right in. When we got into the studio together - he had a great setup at his house, this environment that's super creative, and that's how I like to record."
