The Doobie Brothers have been announced to join an already massive 2013 concert lineup at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip®. The classic rock Hall of Famers responsible for over four decades of American top hits will take the famed motorcycle and music festival stage on Monday, August 5, prior to another American icon, Kid Rock. The Doobie Brothers join a 9 day world class lineup during the Sturgis motorcycle rally that already includes The Cult, ZZ Top, Toby Keith, Rob Zombie, Brantley Gilbert, Halestorm, Mastodon, Machine Head, Queensrÿche, Sublime with Rome and many more to be announced soon. The legendary Southern rock band will command the stage on Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014 during the Buffalo Chip’s nine-day concert series and motorcycle rally. Motorcycle and music fans will have the chance to see true living legends at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip this August when John Kay and Steppenwolf bring their heavy metal thunder to the Wolfman Jack Stage on Friday, Aug. 10. Steppenwolf changed the rock ‘n’ roll landscape and the world of motorcycling forever. Their songs featured in the biker culture classic “Easy Rider” became synonymous with riding and rebellion. Steppenwolf is the original biker band and is credited with spawning an entire genre of music when singer John Kay coined the term “heavy metal” in the lyrics “heavy metal thunder”. The band’s music gave the world of motorcycling the impetus for many a road trip with anthems that include “Born to be Wild” and “Magic Carpet Ride.” Classic hits like “Rock Me,” “The Pusher” and “Jupiter’s Child” became engrained in the hearts of bikers everywhere.

“When these guys said ‘Get Your Motors Runnin’, they inspired a movement and became the soundtrack for bike nights, garage sessions and hangouts for generations,” said Rod Woodruff, President of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip. “It just doesn’t get any more authentic than John Kay and Steppenwolf on the largest stage in motorcycling. They are the real deal. This will be the biker event of the year.”

The headlining performance by John Kay & Steppenwolf is the most recent of three huge names to sign on to perform at the Buffalo Chip in 2018. Eric Church is scheduled to perform Wednesday, Aug. 8 followed by Kid Rock on Thursday, Aug. 9. Many more world-class bands will be announced soon.

In additional to musical entertainment, the Buffalo Chip TT American Flat Track race will take place in the amphitheater on Sunday, Aug. 5. The annual concert and event series, known as the “Best Party Anywhere®,” will begin on Friday, Aug. 3 and run through Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018. Traditions are a major part of the Sturgis Buffalo Chip experience. One of the longest standing includes feeling the amphitheater shake with the roar of V-twins while hearing Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” blast through the main stage speakers. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, wildly popular with Chip fans, will bring their hits home to the Wolfman Jack Stage in 2018 on Monday, Aug. 6.
