Nashville Tennessee might not be where you would think to look for an original reggae sound, but for Roots of a Rebellion, that proved to be just the place to develop their own unique style of music. The six-piece band has been performing together for almost a decade. On July 12th, Round Records will release the two-disc set GarciaLive Volume 11, November 11th, 1993, Providence Civic Center, recorded in Providence, Rhode Island on what would be their final East Coast tour. The tour featured the band’s most acclaimed line up with Garcia (guitar/vocals), Melvin Seals (keyboards), John Kahn (bass), David Kemper (drums), Gloria Jones (backing vocals) and Jacklyn LaBranch (backing vocals).

On November 2016, PORTER ROBINSON--who is bringing SECOND SKY FESTIVAL to California this June--got a call that would change his family’s life. His 17-year-old brother Mark was diagnosed with Burkitt lymphoma, an aggressive, fast growing cancer. After intensive treatment at UNC Hospital on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from his doctors and the rest of their staff, Mark was eventually cured and is now thriving.

On Tuesday, July 9 at the Birchmere outside of Washington, DC, some of the greatest performers in American roots music will celebrate the life of their friend, Eileen Carson Schatz.

“It’s time for us to gather around our dear friends Mark and Eileen, who are going through the toughest of things,” says Béla Fleck, who will be joined by Jerry Douglas, Stuart Duncan, Sierra Hull, Danny Paisley and Eileen’s husband, Mark Schatz.  “This benefit is way we can support them, and to let them know how important they both are in our community.”

Country legend and original female outlaw Tanya Tucker returns after 17 years. Tucker’s new album, While I’m Livin’, is set for release on August 23 via Fantasy Records. Produced by Brandi Carlile and Shooter Jennings, the album marks Tucker’s first for the label and her first new material since 2002’s Tanya.
