The wattage of talent set to shine at the 29th annual Old Settler’s Music Festival just got even brighter with the addition of two-time Grammy-winning Houston native (and 2016 Grammy Nominee) Rodney Crowell, alterna-roots rockers Deer Tick, folk-pop duo HONEYHONEY, psych-folk band The Deer and progressive-acoustic quartet MilkDrive, along with the Jitterbug Vipers performing a tribute to Slim Richey. They join Dawes, The Jayhawks, The Band of Heathens, Bob Schneider, The Del McCoury Band, Jerry Douglas presents The Earls of Leicester, Della Mae and 2016 Grammy nominees The Milk Carton Kids and Hayes Carll, plus nearly 20 other acts, to round out the lineup at the four-day festival, which takes place Thursday through Sunday, April 14-17, at the Salt Lick Pavilion and Camp Ben McCulloch in Driftwood, southwest of Austin. Discounted packages (with and without camping) and single-day wristband vouchers are still available at oldsettlersmusicfest.org.

Old Settler’s Music Festival fills four stages with top roots-music artists during four spring days in Texas’ lovely hill country. This year’s lineup also includes The HillBenders’ not-to-be-missed performance of “The Who’s Tommy: A Bluegrass Opry,” Jay Farrar, The Black Lillies, Sarah Jarosz, Shinyribs, The Wood Brothers and fast-rising Houston band The Suffers. (See daily lineup below.)

When the stage lights go down, impromptu campground jams begin, making for a singular experience that draws fans back year after year. And this year, The Bluegrass Situation, the virtual roots-music community and media collective founded by actor/comedian/picker Ed Helms, joins the festival as presenter of the Discovery (workshop) stage.
