McCoury's Management confirmed on August 21st that Rob McCoury will be taking a sabbatical from The Travelin' McCourys.  His last date was August 26th at the Moontower Festival.  Rob, the youngest son of icon Del McCoury, was asked to participate in a unique pilot program, partially funded by String Cheese Incident's Billy Nershi, on the Polynesian influence on progressive string music.  While not wildly known, the youngest McCoury is often referred to as a bit of a scholar.  Knowledgeable not only of music history, but also instrument construction, wildlife management, and numerous ancient brewing techniques.

When reached for a comment, he offered "Bela and Jim Mills inspired me with their travels to Africa, and I have often found myself under the influence of Polynesian culture. There's a paper umbrella and a world of knowledge in my future."

Travelin' McCourys are proud to announce the addition of Andy Thorn of Leftover Salmon who will be joining them initially on September 7th-9th...what the future holds beyond there is uncertain.

September 7th – Georgia Theatre – Athens, GA
September 8th – Charleston Pour House – Charleston, SC
September 9th – New Mountain AVL – Asheville, NC
