Day 2 of the Mile High Music Festival

Sunday morning hit me like a ton of bricks.  I'd been out for the first day of Mile High, leaving sometime around 1:30 am for the drive home, and only slept about 6 hours before I was out of bed again.  In some ways, being able to sleep at home was a bonus.  I got to shower, for example.  But leaving the scene of the crime takes the fight out of a person, makes them soft.  To beat the elements, be they natural or of man's design, one must enter a Zen-like state of self-preservation.  Stamina and persistence are the stimulants of necessity,

Last Day of 2008 10KLF

The early Saturday morning sun heralded a very warm day to come, but the sky was clear and looked like it would be a beautiful day. After uploading the photos I took from the day before onto my computer, I sat at my campsite and typed in Day Three's festival memories. I hauled my computer over to the VIP Chill Tent for lunch and while waiting to connect with my other photographer, I sent out Friday's report.

Day Three at 10KLF - 2008 Live!

It's amazing what a good night's sleep can do for a body! Today's report about Friday at the fantastic 10KLF will be devoid of whinning!

Day Two 2008 10KLF Live!

I'm pretty weary this morning as I write about yesterday's great bands. I was kept awake all night last night by a group of campers who were still keyed up after George Clinton's fantastic set. These folks brought their own karaoke setup and some would-be rapper laid really bad rhymes on us. I finally got a couple of hours sleep after security pulled the plug on them after two warnings.

I hereby declare the inaugural Mile High Music Festival a Success!

Last weekend I had the good fortune of attending the Mile High Music Festival in Denver, or more appropriately Commerce City, Colorado.  This year was the festival's inaugural year, and as far as I could tell, the affair went off without a hitch.  And I love festivals.  There is something savory about the vibe put off by people at a festival, something uniquely and honestly human.  Even though the weather is hot, even though there are lines for the bathroom, lines for food, lines to buy tee shirts, even though the beer costs $8 and a salad

Grateful Web Live Coverage of Day 1 at the 10KLF

As we drove into this year's 10KLF at about 1:30 in the afternoon, I thought we'd have to wait to get into our campground. We'd even gotten some subs to tide us over while we waited. Instead, we were the first car at the gate at that moment in time, no line, and not many people in the field at the entrance. We noticed that the Viking and Blue Ox campgrounds were empty.

All Good Music Festival Recap

At the All Good Music Festival held this past weekend in Masontown WV, the motto by which attendees live by is also the name.  How convenient.  Despite the mantra that anything goes, the festival has been noted as one of the better organized, least problematic, and most entertaining of the summer.
