Greensky Bluegrass announces the addition of more than two dozen dates to their Fall Tour. The boys from Kalamazoo will be busy criss-crossing the country performing numerous festivals this Summer and the upcoming tour will once again see the band trekking from coast to coast. The dates include three multi-night stands in Portland, OR, Telluride, CO and Kalamazoo, MI, the latter being an annual tradition of performing in the band’s hometown on Thanksgiving weekend.

Hot Buttered Rum has announced that they will be recording three 5-song EPs over the next several months, and the band is asking fans for support through a newly launched PledgeMusic Campaign.

Leave Austin at 4:45 a.m. Having never been up before the sun, I’m only semi-lucid and aware that it is dark outside as we drive to the airport. Land in D.C. at 11 a.m. Get picked up by friends, short reunion on the sidewalk, and then it’s time to put on the Festival Game Face. Caravan to Dover, Delaware including multiple stops for food and water, then food and Gatorade, then to look for a bathroom. Bathroom is a single Port-a-Potty behind gas station… not ready to resort to that camping life yet. Pee on grass by fence. Get yelled at by woman for peeing on her property.

Since 2009, Dubbest has been forging its own path through the heavily forested reggae landscape, expertly infusing roots traditionalism with a refreshing improvisational savvy that calls to mind not only the studio experimentation of pioneering dub producers Osbourne “King Tubby” Ruddock and Lee “Scratch” Perry but also the real-time exploration of jam bands like the Grateful Dead and Phish.

In the midst of the “Fare Thee Well:  Celebrating 50 Years of Grateful Dead”, Grateful Web talks to Roger McNamee of Moonalice.  McNamee shares candidly Moonalice music, technology, their philosophy and vehement choice to live and play by their own credo -- perhaps similar to that of the Grateful Dead – to thrive – and have fun -- in today’s music industry.

GW:  Hello Roger.  Where are you at?

Umphrey’s McGee will return to Colorado to ring in the New Year at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver on December 30th, 31st, and January 2nd. On the heels of sold out shows at the Boulder Theater and Red Rocks Amphitheatre, we look forward to rocking the Rockies thrice more, and celebrating this special holiday tradition with you!

Electric Forest is amazing.  It inspires plenty to say but I am going to keep it short.  This festival is unapologetically immature. Nanny Nanny Boo Boo.  This is the festival of the future with freaks, geeks, and oh my! Kids.  Or Kidz as we used to call em in my day.  They are lude, crude, young, and full of piss and vinegar.  Yes.

Think of Robert Plant and Allison Krauss or Emmylou Harris and Gram Parsons and you get a good idea of where these two Saskatoon singer-songwriters are coming from. They complement one another beautifully as they perform each other's music. John Antoniuk comes from the indie/roots side of life and Jen Lane has a bit more country/folk in her repertoire. Together, they create straight ahead rhythms and harmonies that complete the musical package.

Plans have been brewing for months, and now two Colorado-born craftsmen are tuned up and ready for a unique silver anniversary celebration. Rock/bluegrass band Leftover Salmon and Breckenridge Brewery have each enjoyed twenty-five years of success.

San Francisco's Beats Antique has released a cover of the Hunter/Garcia gem New Speedway Boogie. This version includes Clint Maedgen of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band on vocals and sax.
