Baur's Listening Lounge

Dazzle’s 2022 Keeping It Cool Lineup includes 2 GRAMMY® Award-Winning Artists, 4 Blues Music Award-Winners, a Colorado Hall of Famer, 7 GRAMMY® Award Nominations, 15 Blues Music Awards, and an additional 3 Blues Music Awards Nominations amongst them.

Keeping It Cool highlights some of this summer's biggest shows at Dazzle at Baur’s, with a strong Blues influence. Colorado artists mix with national tours to bring the best of live music to Denver with straight-forward jazz along with all the other notes.

Led by local saxophonist Sarah Mount, who hails from the Mile High City, Sarah Mount & the Rushmores have been delivering improv driven hard funk, jazz hop, and neo-soul to the Denver area for the last four years.

The last Friday of each month, they bring original music and unique covers featuring guest artists every show. March features Daniel Steigleder on tenor sax flying all the way in from Germany for the show.

November is a month that symbolizes gratitude and change. These qualities capture the essence of the music that Natalie Cressman is always making. Her “genre” is constantly changing and evolving with whatever sounds that she is currently feeling and exploring. She fluxes from being in the hard improvisational Trey Anastasio Band, to covering the Weeknd and Drake, and even rapping in Spanish.

Natalie Cressman is a beautiful trombone player, composer, and vocal prodigy that has a long history already in her short life. As a longtime Phish fan, I started seeing her perform with Trey Anastasio Band many years ago. From that, I discovered her individual talents, and learned about her rich music history. Both her mother and her father have successful careers in music.

Trombone player, composer, and vocalist Natalie Cressman has captivated audiences with her natural ability to meld her diverse background with her career. Natalie has merged her talent and jazz skills with her seemingly flawless storytelling ability. Natalie’s unique performance will entrance you and leave you wanting more. The Music Appreciation Society is proud to welcome Natalie to the Baur’s on Sunday, August 2nd at 8 PM.

It was my second trip to Denver’s newest musical oasis of sound indulgence, Baur’s Listening Lounge. This venue is a fascinating place to see live music even if you have not heard of the performers. They do not book bad musical acts at this place. And there is intentional reasoning behind whom the Music Appreciation Society and Tsunami Music Publicity books here. On this night, the music was jaw dropping.

This was a special night for many reasons. First and foremost, it was a resurrection of a historic Denver landmark. And what better way to revive a landmark then to preserve its history with a music twist? Baur’s is a restaurant and a listening lounge, which will play host to some of music’s favorite gems. Founded in 1872 as a confectionery company, it was equivalent to Willy Wonka’s candy factory. With endless candy, cakes, and even claiming to be the “inventor of the ice cream soda,” this was happening, and now it is back.
