Hogslop String Band – Steady Hand (Grand Ole Opry Debut)

Hogslop String Band is a rare breed: a group that honors old-time string band tradition while embracing a bold, irreverent energy rooted in rock ’n’ roll. With their combination of deep musical chops and wild stage presence, the Nashville-based quartet has earned a reputation as one of the most exhilarating live acts on the roots music circuit.

Fiddler and singer Kevin Martin, guitarist and harmonica player Gabriel Kelley, banjoist Daniel Binkley, and bassist-entertainer Pickle fuse genres with ease, moving fluidly between rock, folk, old-time, psychedelic textures, and their own high-voltage originals—an evolving sonic alchemy they affectionately call “The Hogslop Sound.”

The band’s wacky name hints at their rowdy charisma, but catching them live reveals the full scope of their artistry: blistering musicianship, sharp songwriting, and a fearlessness that pushes beyond the boundaries of genre. Since making their Grand Ole Opry debut in 2022, Hogslop String Band has continued to expand its creative reach, winning over new audiences while remaining firmly rooted in the traditions that shaped them.
