Boulder’s spring calendar just got a little brighter: Indigo Girls will return to the Front Range for two nights at Chautauqua Auditorium, bringing their harmonies, heart, and crowd-wide singalongs to one of Colorado’s most beloved rooms.
Originally breaking wide with their 1989 self-titled major-label debut—powered by “Closer to Fine” and “Kid Fears”—the Grammy-winning duo of Emily Saliers and Amy Ray has spent more than three decades turning intimate songwriting into a communal experience. Their concerts have long been defined by the rare feeling that the audience isn’t just watching the show—they’re part of it.
That spirit remains central to their more recent work as well, including Look Long, the duo’s 16th studio album, which leans into origin-story reflections and the shaping forces of home, history, and hard-earned perspective. Recorded at Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios and produced by John Reynolds, the collection finds Saliers and Ray pairing vivid storytelling with a full, road-ready band sound—equal parts tenderness and momentum.
As Saliers has noted, even after all these years the approach is refreshingly grounded: they still feel like a bar band at heart—curious, inspired by younger artists, and committed to the same spark that started it all. For Boulder, that translates into two evenings built for harmony-rich favorites, deep cuts, and the kind of collective chorus that can lift the roof.
