The road has always been part of the Little Feat story—equal parts joy, grit, and the long, rolling romance of American music played night after night. But even legends feel the miles. With a wink and a deep breath, Little Feat have announced “The Last Farewell Tour,” a wind-down that begins in April 2026 and will take shape over several years, as the band gradually steps back from the grind of constant travel while continuing to play and record as long as they’re able.
That distinction matters. This is not a dramatic “never again” statement—it’s a retirement from the hardest part of touring: the endless bus rides, the wear and tear, the relentless logistics that come with life on the road. And in the near future, Feat will honor their own past the best way they know how: by playing.
AEG Presents brings the tour through Colorado for a pair of late-summer dates: Friday, August 21, 2026 at Pikes Peak Center in Colorado Springs, followed by Saturday, August 22, 2026 at Denver’s Paramount Theatre. Tickets for the Denver show go on sale Friday, February 6 at 10:00am MT.
Little Feat began in 1969, famously after Frank Zappa told Lowell George he should start his own band. As Lowell happened to have a pretty small shoe size, the name became obvious. He found a partner and keyboard cornerstone in Bill Payne, and a drummer with a bottomless pocket in Richie Hayward. After a few transitions, the band added Kenny Gradney (bass), Sam Clayton (percussion), Paul Barrere (guitar) and eventually Fred Tackett (guitar), launching a now 56-year journey that has produced dozens of beloved songs—“Dixie Chicken,” “Oh, Atlanta,” “Willin’,” “Fat Man in the Bathtub”—and a thousand memories.
One lasting monument from that era remains Waiting for Columbus, widely regarded as one of the greatest live albums in rock ’n’ roll history: a document of a band that could turn groove into architecture and a stage into a second home.
The road, as always, came with a cost. First Lowell George in 1979, then Richie Hayward in 2010, and Paul Barrere in 2019. Yet the everlasting Little Feat groove demanded forward motion. The band added Scott Sharrard (guitar) and Tony Leone (drums), and by all accounts may well be playing at the very height of their powers—recently releasing a well-received album of original material, Strike Up the Band. Their inimitable blend of rock, New Orleans swamp boogie, jazz, and blues remains not only unique, but a continuing source of delight.
Feat’s legacy is a celebration—of songs, of sweat, of community, of the strange magic that happens when musicians who truly listen to one another lock in. And while “The Last Farewell Tour” signals a shift away from constant travel, it also promises more time doing what matters most: playing the music.
