Alt-country supergroup Chaparelle today released their newest single “Don’t Waste Your Prayers.” You can listen HERE, courtesy of Mom+Pop Music.
“Don’t Waste Your Prayers,” written by Paul Cauthen and Noah Jackson, was initially recorded in 2015 with Cauthen and Jackson and co-produced by Beau Bedford and Joe Pisapia in Nashville, Tennessee. However, the song never found its place in Cauthen’s pantheon of releases over the years.
Chaparelle on the single, “Once we started the Chaparelle project, Cauthen reached out, suggesting that we cut this song ourselves. We were blown away how the song and mood of the recording fit our Chap world. There are so many great songs that don’t get to see the light of day for one reason or another, and it’s our honor to bring ‘Don’t Waste Your Prayers’ back to life, a much deserved resurrection, with our twist on it.”
Named “Austin’s next breakout artist” by Austin Monthly and celebrated as one of NPR’s “favorite albums,” alt-country supergroup Chaparelle channels the golden age of country music, weaving a melodic narrative and timeless storytelling with a modern, sultry edge.
The trio is composed of indie pop star Zella Day, singer-songwriter Jesse Woods and renowned producer Beau Bedford (Orville Peck, Wyatt Flores). Their live performances are sensual, enchanting, and undeniably captivating and they have quickly built a devoted following. They have also become a festival favorite, recently performing at Willie Nelson’s Luck Reunion, BottleRock, Newport Folk Festival, Austin City Limits, Under the Big Sky and more.
This single comes on the heels of Marcus King announcing Chaparelle as the supporting band for his upcoming tour:
