Following the recent celebration of their 3,400th performance and a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of Bob Weir, Dark Star Orchestra (DSO) is thrilled to officially announce the return of their premier destination event: Jam in the Sand 13. The all-inclusive musical getaway will take place from January 12–16, 2027, at a stunning new location: the Hideaway at Royalton Blue Waters just outside of Montego Bay, Jamaica.
This year’s event marks a significant evolution for the “Jam in the Sand” experience. After years of listening to fan feedback, the band is moving the event to a more modern, spacious resort that offers highly requested upgrades, including elevators, a location closer to the airport, and expanded dining and room options—all while maintaining the intimate atmosphere that has made the event a staple for nearly 15 years.
In an official statement to the community, the band shared:
“DSO family, it’s finally time. We are thrilled to officially relaunch Jam in the Sand. You are hereby invited to join us in Jamaica this January. With exciting upgrades underway at the resort and a renewed energy behind this return, Jam in the Sand 13 is shaping up to be our most elevated experience yet. You’ll soon have the opportunity to book your reservation, beginning with the public on-sale on March 20. Attendees of past JITS events have the opportunity to book within a pre-sale window March 18 – 19. So take it all in, check out the website, see the resort, examine the packages and see if Jam in the Sand is in your future!”
The Musical Lineup
The soundtrack to this tropical escape features a powerhouse lineup of improvisational masters. Dark Star Orchestra will headline the event with four total performances, including three full, two-set shows on the beach and an extended daytime “Sunshine Set.”
Joining DSO on the sands of Montego Bay are:
Melvin Seals & JGB (featuring special guest violinist Mads Tolling) – 2 shows plus a special pre-night set on January 11.
Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country – 2 shows plus a special post-night show on January 16.
The Brothers Comatose – 2 shows.
The Resort: Hideaway at Royalton Blue Waters
The move to the Hideaway at Royalton Blue Waters offers an “elevated” experience in every sense. The adults-only resort features a centrally located stage on a sprawling white-sand beach, allowing the music to reach fans whether they are in the ocean, by the pool, or at the swim-up bar. The all-inclusive package includes luxury accommodations, unlimited gourmet dining, premium beverages, and a variety of daily activities from beach volleyball to morning yoga.
