FORTHCOMING ALBUM THE ACROBAT DUE OUT APRIL 10, 2026
Today, acclaimed singer-songwriter Tenille Townes released an inspiring new anthem, “we could use a little more” off forthcoming record The Acrobat due out April 10, 2026. The quietly impactful single speaks to the polarizing society we live in and the need to have compassion and empathy for others. This new track was self-produced and solely written by Townes.
“we could use a little” is Tenille Townes third single off her highly anticipated record, The Acrobat. The beautifully penned song showcases Townes’ emotionally charged vocals paired with the powerful yet simple lyrics preaching the importance of treating others with care and love. Tenille Townes is backing up this message by supporting organizations serving unhoused youth and is donating proceeds from the song to different youth shelters. She will also be visiting schools along her tour to perform the song with students.
Townes has also already released a special acoustic performance video of the new single – watch HERE.
Of the track, Tenille shared, “I think art’s job is to tell the story of the time in which we live. To keep weaving the threads of humanity in the tapestry and existence of who we are. Writing this song came from an ache I feel for the divisiveness and fear that we are experiencing in our cultural tug-a-war right now and the continued tragedies that keep unfolding from that every day. We could use a lot more love around here. More eye contact. More empathy. More understanding. More recognition for our humanness. We are living in a time where it can feel hard to remember there is a common ground we are all standing on. But I don’t believe the headlines and agendas that polarize our stories into an ‘us’ and a ‘them’ are any match for the love that exists at the core of who we are.”
She continues, “There’s so much noise in the world and holding on to the guitar and singing about how I feel, has always been my way of still choosing hope and holding up a flashlight in the darkness. Writing is my way of standing up for the love I believe we are all made of.”
PopMatters premiered the track, stating, “Townes softly croons over a softly strummed acoustic guitar… This track’s uncompromising quietude demonstrates how loud the world has become.”

Commitment to emotional honesty has defined Townes’ career from the beginning. The Canada-born, Nashville-based artist has earned two JUNO Awards, two Academy of Country Music Awards, and 17 Canadian Country Music Association Awards, while touring alongside artists such as Stevie Nicks, Miranda Lambert, Shania Twain, Keith Urban, Reba, Zac Brown Band, George Strait, and Dierks Bentley. Across every chapter, she has built a devoted global audience drawn to her empathy, lyrical precision, and willingness to sit with difficult truths.
The Acrobat is the Nashville-based songwriter’s third album, marking a clear shift toward a more intimate, singer-songwriter, folk-leaning sound, one that strips everything back to lyric, melody and emotional truth. Written during a period of profound personal and professional transition, the record finds her standing at a crossroads between who she has been and who she is becoming. Relationship endings, career shifts, and the overwhelming noise of the world around her pushed Townes inward, where she began peeling back long-held patterns of people-pleasing and self-sacrifice. What emerged is her most stripped-down and intimate body of work to date, rooted in vulnerability, courage, and the quiet tenacity it takes to keep moving forward when certainty falls away.
“The truth of this song led me to find the courage to trust my own intuition again, and to reclaim my creative autonomy in making this entire album,” says Tenille. “It became a symbol of the leap into the great unknown, choosing to be an independent artist again without a safety net, and I’m deeply proud of this collection of songs I made in that flight path.”
The Acrobat also includes a feature with recent Grammy winners I’m With Her on “grey like Emmylou” and other tracks written with Grammy-winning writers Lori McKenna, Amy Wadge and Daniel Tashian. The collection also includes a few penned solely by Townes.
First single “enabling” has been a fan favorite, featured on SiriusXM On The Horizon as well as Bobby Bones Top 30 Weekend Countdown. The song also gained support from media, with Music Row stating “…produced with just her own guitar notes and overdubbed harmony vocals. The nakedly confessional lyric is about standing up for herself” and Holler describing the tune as “a quietly devastating song that confronts the emotional cost of loving someone at the expense of yourself.” Both singles “the acrobat” feat. Lori McKenna and “enabling” have also already received love from The Bluegrass Situation, Music Row, CMT, Taste of Country, Holler, Whiskey Riff, Country Central, Women of Americana and more.
Townes is currently heading out on her headlining theatre dates for the first half of “The Living Room Tour,” where a solo evening with a girl and her guitar is set to hold the audience in the palm of her hand. The eleven-run tour will take her across the country and will see her performing not only new songs from The Acrobat but the collection of heart-led songs fans have come to know and love. The deeply intimate acoustic tour kicked off earlier in March and includes an album release show in Nashville on April 9 as well as dates in San Antonio, Seattle, Cleveland and more.
