Jim Lauderdale Leans Hard Back Into Honky Tonk With Country Super Hits Volume 2

Nashville, TN – March 27, 2026 – “Ever since I can remember, I wanted to make records,” says the highly decorated and extraordinarily prolific songwriter and recording artist, Jim Lauderdale, ahead of the release of his new album, Country Super Hits Volume 2—his 38th LP of original music since Planet of Love marked his first, back in 1991. “I don’t have any constraints on me, in terms of release dates, and there’s nothing limiting what I can do.”

An obvious successor to his 2006 album of a slightly different name, Country Super Hits Volume 2 is still chock-full of pedal steel, country piano, and telecasters; the same Lauderdale country caliber, two decades apart, leaning hard into the honky tonk end of the American music spectrum and telling these universal stories in his own singular voice.

As if by sheer coincidence, the GRAMMY-winning Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee also has another album coming out on April 24th—a back-to-bluegrass collaboration with the Po’ Ramblin’ Boys called The Birds Know. Check out the album’s first single right here.

Fans can stream or purchase Country Super Hits Volume 2 in its entirety today at this link.

Lauderdale’s residency at Skinny Dennis Nashville will resume on April 6th, before heading to Europe with Emmylou Harris to open and close his summer tour dates. For tickets, more information, and to stay up to date with all things Jim Lauderdale, please visit jimlauderdalemusic.com.
