The Moss Cruise Into “Your Way” Ahead of Big Blue Moon
Some bands chase a sound—The Moss seem to just live inside one. Their new single “Your Way” rolls in like ocean air through an open window: easy, sunlit, but carrying something deeper underneath. It’s the latest glimpse of their upcoming album Big Blue Moon, landing April 24, and it lands with a message that cuts through the noise—trust yourself and keep moving.
“Everyone has certain ideas on how life should be lived,” says frontman Tyke James. “But they’re all just ideas—you shouldn’t listen to everything people tell you.”
That mindset tracks. James has never exactly stood still—van life in Santa Cruz, surf breaks in France, ranch work in Montana, paragliding over Utah skies. Somewhere along that winding path, The Moss took root, first in O’ahu and now out of Salt Lake City, growing into a sound that pulls from surf rock, indie pop, island rhythm, and just enough alt-rock edge to keep it honest.
It’s working. The band has racked up more than 75 million streams, earned a “Rising Artist To Watch” nod from Alt Press, and built a following that feels less like hype and more like word-of-mouth momentum spreading coast to coast. Their Insomnia EP cracked things open, and steady touring—from BottleRock to Ohana—has kept the fire going.
Now they’re loading up the van again. A full spring headline tour stretches across the country, with a notable stop at Kilby Block Party alongside Lorde, The xx, Modest Mouse, and more—a fitting home turf moment for a band that’s always been about movement.
