Futurebirds Announce Double Album Far Out Country and 2026 Tour Dates

After nearly two decades carving out their own lane somewhere between country, indie rock, and something harder to define, Futurebirds are opening a new chapter with the announcement of their first-ever double album, Far Out Country, arriving June 5 via Dualtone Records.

Produced by GRAMMY-winner Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, MJ Lenderman), the ambitious project unfolds across two distinct halves—Far Out Country I and Far Out Country II—described by the band as separate yet connected worlds. One leans toward a restless, sunlit daytime energy, while the other drifts into something more introspective and nocturnal, blending psychedelic country-rock, indie textures, and a sound that feels more like a place than a genre.

In a move that nods to the band’s deep appreciation for physical formats, Far Out Country will first be released as a complete double vinyl experience, with the second half of the album arriving on streaming platforms months later. For fans looking to hear the full story right away, vinyl will be the only way in.

To offer a first glimpse into the new material, Futurebirds have shared the Sienna Life EP, featuring three tracks from the album’s first half: “Sienna Life,” “Sleepless in the Cage,” and “Ghost Moon.”

At the heart of the band are three distinct singer-songwriters—Daniel “Womz” Womack, Carter King, and Thomas “Tojo” Johnson—whose collaborative approach has always been central to Futurebirds’ identity. Across the album’s 18 songs, their voices intertwine in a conversation shaped by years on the road and the evolving realities of life off it, reflecting on fatherhood, family, and the push-and-pull between home and the highway.

“Far Out Country is a place, not a sound,” King explains. “It’s a place outside ourselves that hopefully helps us see inside the house a little more clearly.”

The album arrives two years after Easy Company and reunites the band with Cook, splitting recording sessions between the wide-open energy of Sonic Ranch in the Texas borderlands—where tracks were captured live to tape—and more deliberate, layered sessions in smaller studios. The result is a record that balances immediacy with detail, spontaneity with intention.

In support of the release, Futurebirds will hit the road for an extensive 2026 tour, including a strong Colorado run with stops at the Gothic Theatre in Denver on July 10 and the Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek on July 11.

Futurebirds v6.0 features Brannen Miles (bass), Carter King (vocals, guitar), Daniel Womack (vocals, guitar), Thomas Johnson (vocals, guitar), and Tom Myers (drums), continuing to evolve a sound that has made them one of the most compelling and quietly adventurous bands operating in the Americana space today.

With Far Out Country, the band isn’t just releasing a new record—they’re inviting listeners into a fully realized world, one that unfolds slowly, rewards attention, and feels built for both the open road and the spaces in between.
