Bandits on the Run Release “lostlostlost” Ahead of Rough Magic Album

Continuing to build excitement for their highly anticipated full-length album, Rough Magic, out June 12, 2026, NYC-based indie-folk-pop trio Bandits on the Run release the new single “lostlostlost” on May 1. LISTEN HERE

With rotating lead vocals and varied instrumentation, Adrian Blake Enscoe (they/he), Sydney Shepherd (she/her), and Regina Strayhorn (she/her) evoke the spirit of ’60s and ’70s bands like Fleetwood Mac while channeling the modern folk-pop inventiveness of acts like First Aid Kit, Bonnie Light Horseman, and I’m With Her. Their impeccable harmonies and elevated songwriting make a complex balancing act feel effortless.

Grown from theatrical roots—Enscoe and Shepherd have appeared on Broadway, while Strayhorn has built a career in casting—the trio is also writing original musicals, including a stage adaptation of What’s Eating Gilbert Grape with Christopher Sears and Academy Award nominee Peter Hedges.

This summer, following a tour supporting Alan Doyle and the release of Rough Magic, the band will present their musical based on Shakespeare’s As You Like It at the Chautauqua Institution from August 10–15, along with Bandits on the Run performances on August 9 and 12.

The new single, “lostlostlost,” was written “off the map,” during a rare stretch when none of the band members were working on Bandits-related projects. Shepherd was starring in a world premiere in Minneapolis, Strayhorn was balancing casting work and launching a film portrait business, and Enscoe was filming a TV role while traveling frequently between New York and Minneapolis.

“It was a lot of being alone, and without the context of Bandits and our other collective pursuits, it got me in a meaninglessness state of mind,” Enscoe reflects. “When I don’t have Sydney to sleep next to, my circadian rhythm drifts… my life as a quasi-drifter lacked context.”

Between their inventive arrangements, instrument swapping, emotional range, and collaborative spirit, Bandits on the Run fully embrace what they call their “ethos of artmaking” on Rough Magic. Relationships—old and new—form the heart of the record.

Produced by William Garrett (Electracraft, Spotify Singles) and engineered by Carl Bespolka (Live at Electric Lady), Rough Magic was recorded across three seasons in 2025—partly at THUMP Studios in Brooklyn, but primarily in a secluded Catskills home offered as a creative refuge by friends.

“This album would not have happened without the support of people who believe in what Banditry is all about,” Shepherd explains. “Each step of the way, the people who surround us have been so generous with their time, talent, money, and spirit.”

Enscoe adds, “When we listen to these tracks, we feel all the love our chosen family has poured into this record.”

“We hope that this album is a reminder that something can be made from nothing,” Strayhorn concludes. “Just never lose sight of the Rough Magic shining through us all.”

Rough Magic will be available everywhere on June 12, 2026, and is available now for pre-save (HERE). “lostlostlost” is out now on all streaming platforms.
