Today, rising Montana folk duo Buffalo Traffic Jam announce their highly anticipated debut album, Pictures of You, arriving July 31 on Arista Records both digitally and on vinyl. They’re also sharing the 14-song set’s titular single, “Pictures of You,” an achingly nostalgic track that feels as wide-open and lonesome as the gorgeous landscapes captured in the accompanying lyric video, which was filmed during the band’s current debut — and sold-out — headlining Take Me Home Tour. Album available for pre-save and pre-order HERE.

Despite its humble intimacy, “Pictures of You” captures so much of what has made Buffalo Traffic Jam an unstoppable force. With his smoky, whisper-close voice and detailed storytelling, Frankie Cassidy immerses us immediately in a moment of personal searching: “I’ve been baptized, cheated on, married twice / I don’t even know where to go / You said you needed space, I got time, time to waste / I don’t even have a home.” But even as the lyrics portray a man profoundly lost, he and Nathan Ross blaze a steady musical trail forward, building from bare acoustics — guitar, mandolin, strings — to a rousing, full-band sound brimming with hope.
Frankie shared some thoughts on the deeply personal inspiration behind both the new song and the forthcoming album of the same name:
“When I lost my grandma this past fall, I went back home to my parents’ farm for a couple of days. Together, we sat down and sifted through old photos to display at her funeral and it felt like living my whole life over again. Every image, old and recent, was a chapter in our family’s story. I began writing our first album shortly after, and slowly realized these songs were doing the same thing. Each one captures a short, specific moment that shaped who I am. They aren't just songs. They're polaroids — snapshots of exactly what I felt at that time. I hope you listen to this and laugh, cry, smile, and drift back to your own moments — the ones that made you who you are. This is Pictures of You.”
The Pictures of You tracklist can be found below and will include January’s heartbreakingly reflective “I Don’t Care” alongside March’s ascendent “Hanging on Hope,” which American Songwriter premiered and called “an incredibly listenable mash of styles with country undertones and an indie rock angst.” Also on the album is Buffalo Traffic Jam’s breakout single “Fool’s Gold,” which has been streamed over 94 million times thus far and hit No. 3 on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay chart, earning them Billboard’s March 2026 Chartbreaker title. They recently made their national television debut on CBS Saturday Mornings, where they performed all three of the above.
Meanwhile, Buffalo Traffic Jam are forging ahead on their Take Me Home Tour — named after October’s Take Me Home EP — which crisscrosses North America before heading to Europe in June. Despite being the band’s first-ever headlining run, all dates are already sold out, including back-to-back nights at West Hollywood’s iconic Troubadour later this month.
In a review from the tour, The Honey POP praised, “It’s hard to believe that they only recently started playing headline shows because it seems to come naturally to them. So if you can’t get enough of artists like Noah Kahan or Jonah Kagen, look no further for your next favorite.”
Buffalo Traffic Jam also have support slots upcoming with the likes of Ole 60, Dylan Gossett, and Goose, not to mention a slew of festival appearances including Hinterland Music Festival, BottleRock Napa Valley, Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, and Louisville’s Bourbon & Beyond, among many others. They’ve recently added a few more U.S. dates to their summer itinerary, as well as announced their Down Under 2026 tour. Find the band’s full routing below.
All this follows an incredible breakthrough year that culminated in Buffalo Traffic Jam landing on Amazon Music’s Best of 2025: Folk playlist and earning the #9 slot on Holler Country’s hotly tipped 20 New Artists for 2026 list. The duo’s vulnerability and realness have resonated with a growing community of fans who’ve pushed their monthly Spotify listeners past 4.2 million.
As Atwood Magazine wrote in a recent profile, “In an era dominated by slick, algorithm-friendly music, Buffalo Traffic Jam stand out because they don’t pretend to be anything they’re not. Their songs are down-to-earth and hit close to home.” Stay tuned for more from Frankie and Nate.
