Daniel Grindstaff & The Uptown Troubadours have released their brand-new single “Denver,” available now on all digital and streaming platforms (listen HERE). The announcement was officially revealed earlier this morning during an appearance on WSM Radio’s Coffee, Country & Cody, where the band introduced the track and shared insight into the song’s story and recording.
Written by Nashville Songwriters Hall of Famer and Grand Ole Opry member Larry Gatlin, “Denver” is a compelling, mainstream-leaning Bluegrass anthem that blends rich storytelling with standout musicianship. The song unfolds as a heartfelt love story that takes an unexpected emotional turn, continuing the momentum of the band’s recent chart-topping releases. Showcasing the signature sound of Daniel Grindstaff & The Uptown Troubadours, the track features Grindstaff (banjo, vocals), Kevin Richardson (guitar, lead vocals), Derek Deakins (fiddle) and Kent Blanton (bass), with each member’s musicianship on full display. To celebrate the release, the band also just released the official music video for the recording (watch it HERE).
“Denver” arrives as momentum continues to build around the band’s latest self-titled album, which has already made a major impact at radio. The project has produced three No. 1 singles on the Bluegrass Today Weekly Airplay Chart, including “Angel Dream,” “The Death of John Henry” featuring Marty Stuart and “We See Love,” written by Rick Lang and Jim Grubbs. With contributions from acclaimed songwriters such as Larry Gatlin, Tim Stafford, Jim and Lynna Woolsey, and Larry Sparks, the album has resonated strongly with fans and radio alike.
The project has also garnered widespread media attention, with features and airplay across SiriusXM, Banjo Radio, WSM Radio, and numerous other outlets. Critics have taken notice as well, praising the band’s approach and artistry. Medium noted, “In a genre often defined by its past, Grindstaff and his band offer something quietly radical — Bluegrass that isn’t trying to be anything other than itself, and all the better for it.” Meanwhile, Melody Maker Magazine said, “If this album has a defining quality, it’s trust. Grindstaff trusts the material, the band, and the genre itself.”
Led by two-time IBMA-nominated banjoist Daniel Grindstaff, The Uptown Troubadours bring a dynamic blend of precision, energy and authenticity rooted in Bluegrass tradition. Grindstaff’s career spans hundreds of performances at the Grand Ole Opry, national television appearances, and collaborations with some of the most respected names in Bluegrass and Country music. Together, the band continues to build on that foundation, delivering a fresh yet traditional sound that is resonating across the genre.
