After a relentless year that saw them crisscross the United States twice and deliver a standout performance at a high-stakes New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival after-party, Denver’s own indie-jam heavyweights Sqwerv returned to where it all began with a homecoming show at The Bluebird Theater on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
The performance marked a triumphant Denver return for one of the region’s most rapidly ascending acts, following a period of significant momentum for the quartet.
Fresh off the release of their latest single, “Brightside,” and the live album Charleston Pour House 10.18.2025, Sqwerv has solidified their reputation for musical risk-taking. Their sound—a seamless blend of indie-folk, psych-rock, and expansive improvisation—has earned them a dedicated national following, but the band remains deeply rooted in the Denver scene that birthed them.
“There’s an energy in Denver that you just don't find anywhere else,” says guitarist Guy Frydenlund. “After being on the road for so long and taking these songs through every corner of the country, bringing that growth back to the Bluebird feels like a full-circle moment.”
Joining Sqwerv for the evening were special guests The Runaway Grooms, promising a night of high-energy, improvisational music that celebrated the thriving Colorado music community.
Formed through the CU Denver music program, Sqwerv consists of Guy Frydenlund on guitar, Zach Bulgarelli on drums, Jack Marty on keys, and Caden Kramer on bass. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Phish and the Grateful Dead while maintaining a modern indie-rock edge, the band has become a staple of the national festival circuit and the indie-jam movement.
