Greg Anton launches The Anton Collection at Sweetwater Music Hall on June 20, performing new works and Robert Hunter collaborations.
Greg Anton, renowned drummer, songwriter, and longtime force in the Bay Area music scene, will launch his new septet, The Anton Collection, at Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The show begins at 8 p.m. and will feature Anton’s experimental instrumentals alongside songs co-written with Grateful Dead lyricist Robert Hunter. The Hunter-Anton songs include rare Hunter lyrics that speak to political and cultural upheaval in America, bringing the late lyricist’s voice into a contemporary setting through Anton’s new ensemble.
The evening should be of particular interest to fans of Zero, Gregg’s Eggs, Robert Hunter, Bay Area improvisational music, and the broader Grateful Dead family tree. Anton’s work has long moved between rock, jazz, psychedelia, and free-form exploration, and The Anton Collection continues that thread with a large ensemble built for rhythm, texture, and open-ended musical conversation.
The new septet features Greg Anton on drums, Angeline Saris on bass, Mingo Lewis Jr. on percussion, Stefanie Coyote on vocals, Jay Wilcox on guitar, Jake Temple on saxophone, and Fletcher Neilson on keys.
