Portland, OR — Bee Appleseed will release his new single, “Escape From The Digital World,” on July 24 through Godyssey Music, with a release show performance and first-ever art show happening 4-7pm at the Portland Art Museum Rental Sales Gallery.
“Escape From The Digital World” is the latest track from Bee Appleseed’s forthcoming psychedelic folk-rock odyssey, 21st Century Prayer, due for release this fall. The album is his first solo studio album in six years after consistently putting out many records with his eight-member improvised psych-rock band, Elf Freedom, along with numerous live albums and solo mixtapes. 21st Century Prayer takes the listener on a journey that serves as a soundtrack to life in the times we’re living in.
“Escape From The Digital World” features a laid-back folk arrangement of brush-stick drums, clarinet, slide electric guitar, violin, cello, acoustic guitar, bass, and backing vocals, encouraging listeners to slip away from the madness of modern technology, politics, hustle culture, and city life and out into nature. Its staccato, catchy, psychedelic poetry includes lines such as: “I’m escaping from the digital world if this culture will allow me” and “I feel like my generation is being used in some kind of grand experiment,” revealing the lyrical depth of Bee Appleseed’s songwriting and his aim to balance memorable melodies with meaningful words. It is, above all, a catchy tune.
