Grateful Dead Worcester ’88 Shows Join Tuesday Dead Drops

Tuesday Dead Drops continues with the final two nights from The Centrum in Worcester. Fresh off a scorching run in Hartford, the Grateful Dead rolled into town smoking hot.

April 8, 1988, opens with “Jack Straw” and a silky “West L.A. Fadeaway,” while “Loser” into “Let It Grow” closes a strong first set.

Then comes the magic: “Playing in the Band” into “Crazy Fingers,” “Uncle John’s Band,” “Drums” and “Space.” Phil detonates “The Other One,” Jerry digs deep into “Black Peter,” and “Turn on Your Love Light” brings the party back before a beautiful “Black Muddy River” encore.

The final night brings a rare “Big Boss Man” opener, followed by “Candyman,” “When I Paint My Masterpiece” and a smoking “Deal” to highlight the first set.

The second set opens with “Hell in a Bucket” into “Iko Iko” before a powerful “Terrapin Station.” Out of “Drums” and “Space,” the band launches into “Going Down the Road Feeling Bad,” “I Need a Miracle,” “Dear Mr. Fantasy,” “Hey Jude,” “Throwing Stones” and “Not Fade Away” to take The Centrum home.

And because it was Saturday night, “One More Saturday Night” provided the perfect ending.

Two drops. One hot band. Spring ’88 keeps delivering.

Curated by David Lemieux and mastered by David Glasser from the original DATs, both shows are now available to stream in hi-res.
