Austrian Americana artist Prinz Grizzley has released his new indie-folk single and video, “A Mountain to Be Tamed (The Struggling),” from his forthcoming album, Tilda, due October 9.

Slow and purposeful before building dramatically with bass and drums after its first chorus, the song carries a lonesome feeling that reflects the personal struggles running throughout Tilda.
“Everywhere I go there’s a mountain to be tamed / There’s a fire to be stolen / There’s a sinner, there’s a saint / Everywhere I go there’s trouble finding me / There’s a devil waiting, waiting in me,” sings Prinz Grizzley’s Chris Comper.
“My great-grandfather had to climb a few mountains to get to Austria in the first place. I see these same mountains when I look out of my windows,” Comper says. “These mountains surround me; they’re in me. I think of these mountains as a symbol.”
Drawing from dark Appalachian folk and bluegrass, Tilda is a 14-song concept album inspired by the life of Comper’s grandmother and his family’s history in the Austrian Alps. Its songs explore war, loss, faith, hardship and new beginnings, moving through bleak and intense moments while leaving room for hope.
Based in the Austrian Alps, Comper previously found indie-rock success with Golden Reef before launching Prinz Grizzley and moving into Americana. His career has included appearances at SXSW, AmericanaFest, Folk Alliance International and the Montreux Jazz Festival, along with a European and UK tour supporting Seasick Steve.
