The Caverns Sessions Season 15 Comes to PBS

Grundy County, TN — The Caverns Sessions is back for Season 15, with a new lineup of acclaimed artists taking the stage inside The Caverns’ world-renowned underground concert hall. The latest season premieres September 9, 2026, on PBS stations and the PBS app, opening with acclaimed singer-songwriter Jeff Tweedy.

“I’m continually filled with wonder and joy at all the amazing artists we are so privileged to shine a light on in the darkness of The Caverns through this enduring series on PBS, a home for art and cultural programming that exists nowhere else on American television,” says Todd Mayo, owner of The Caverns and co-founder of Todd Squared, LLC.

The series showcases a dynamic range of artists across Americana, roots, country, and beyond, spotlighting established artists alongside the next generation of emerging artists. Episodes will premiere weekly on PBS.

• Sept. 9 – Jeff Tweedy: The 2025 Americana Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Jeff Tweedy began with alt-country favorites Uncle Tupelo before fronting GRAMMY-winning Wilco and becoming a celebrated solo artist.
• Sept. 16 – Christone “Kingfish” Ingram: GRAMMY-winning Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, a blues-steeped native son of Clarksdale, Mississippi, stands at the crossroads of legacy and innovation, bridging generations and genres.
• Sept. 23 – Kyle Tuttle Band: Georgia-raised and Berklee-trained virtuoso Kyle Tuttle has sonically saddled the spectrum of possibilities for banjo and band, moving effortlessly from bluegrass to funk to folk.
• Sept. 30 – The Band of Heathens: With a unique style ranging from laid-back indie-rock melodies to undeniable swamp-swagger, The Band of Heathens have never abandoned their go-it-alone philosophy.
• Oct. 7 – Wynonna: With five GRAMMY wins and a decades-long career, Wynonna is one of the most widely recognized and iconic country singers in American music, with 19 No. 1 singles.
• Oct. 14 – New Dangerfield: New Dangerfield carries the torch for the Black string band tradition, taking traditional tunes and turning them on their ear while forging something entirely of their own.
• Oct. 21 – The Wilder Blue: This Texas five-piece puts their unique spin on rocked-out country, with sharp storytelling soaring inside gorgeous, seldom-heard five-part harmonies.
• Oct. 28 – Apocalyptica: For over 25 years, Apocalyptica has innovated a totally convincing neoclassical heavy metal style with three cellos and drums, without electric guitars or bass.
• Nov. 4 – Warren Haynes: Known for his landmark guitar work with the Allman Brothers Band and Gov’t Mule, as well as touring with members of the Grateful Dead, Warren Haynes is a singular guitar talent.
• Nov. 11 – Taylor Hunnicutt: Alabama-raised, Taylor Hunnicutt’s cowboy boots and roots run deep through blues, country, and rock, fueling dynamic performances that cross genre lines.
• Nov. 18 – Slay & Stinson: Denver-based and melody-driven, Slay & Stinson showcase deep-rooted musical storytelling drawn from real-life and fantastical experiences, while forging something entirely of their own.
• Nov. 25 – Punch Brothers: A supergroup of virtuosic musicians, Punch Brothers bring together extraordinary instrumental talent and an adventurous approach to acoustic and American roots music.

“Season 15 brings together extraordinary artists and a remarkable range of musical traditions in a setting unlike any other,” says Todd Jarrell, producer of the series. “The Caverns Sessions is a place of discovery for audiences, offering music from the heart of the American experience.”

New episodes of The Caverns Sessions will air nationwide on PBS stations and stream for free on PBS.org and the PBS app for 30 days after each premiere before moving to the PBS Passport library. Check local listings for exact air dates and times.

Season 15 of The Caverns Sessions is produced by Todd Mayo and Todd Jarrell of Todd Squared, LLC, and directed by Randy Hale. Andy Kern served as audio engineer, with Brian Kink as lighting director.

The series is made possible by underwriting from the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and South Central Tennessee Tourism Association’s Experience Tennessee. The 12-episode series is presented to PBS nationally in partnership with Nashville PBS and WCTE Central Tennessee PBS in Cookeville, Tennessee.
