Emerging from Austin’s vibrant music scene, Latin band SANA SANA MÚSICA bring together their cultural roots and wide-ranging influences as they make their formal introduction with debut single “Hay Que Volver,” out now via Republic Records & Universal Music Latino.
Accompanying the track, the band also unveil the official music video for “Hay Que Volver,” out now.
The track’s smoky drums lock the tempo down into a simmering and swinging groove punctuated by chopped-up Spanish soul samples. Venezuelan-American frontwoman Sisi delivers a smoldering vocal over verses laced with loose and bluesy guitar licks and bright keys.
Taking flight on the hook, she chants the refrain in hypnotic fashion, “Hay que volver.”
“This song is about the most prevalent feeling I've felt in my life — whether it be finding a way back home, or to your family, to your roots, to yourself, to your country, this song is about knowing that going back is in our blood. It’s what we do. As the proud daughter of my Latina mother, I always find my way back home,” says Sisi.
Ultimately, the tune illuminates the uncanny and undeniably magic interplay between Sisi, guitarist, bassist, and proud Texas-Mexico border native Maximiliano, and GRAMMY Award-winning producer Joseph.
Backed by this gumbo of styles and experiences, the single's nostalgic and universal message about needing to find their way back, whether that be to your people, place or self, resonates with raw emotion and relatable truth.
Austin’s best-kept secret is out, and SANA SANA MÚSICA are about to be on everyone’s mind.
Stay tuned for more music and news soon.
About SANA SANA MÚSICA
Sana Sana Música is a meeting point of cultures, memories, and rhythms, formed by three artists whose lives were shaped by borders both visible and invisible.
Venezuelan American singer and songwriter Sisi brings a perspective rooted in dual identity, nostalgia, and the experience of being Latina while raised in the U.S.; guitarist and bassist Maximiliano draws from his upbringing in Laredo on the Texas-Mexico border, blending a rock 'n' roll background with the cumbia and Chicano influences of his hometown; and Grammy Award-winning, Austin-based producer Joseph, whose family also comes from Laredo, brings a global ear shaped by hip-hop and cumbia.
Together, Sana Sana Música creates music that sounds like home, exploring the nuance of being raised in the United States by Latino parents and immigrants while carrying the stories, language, and culture passed down through family.
With their debut album set for release in 2027, the band makes their introduction with “Hay Que Volver,” a reflection of their belief that you don’t have to speak the language to feel the feeling.
