John Kadlecik will debut his new project, Los Gatos Mysteriosos (A Latin Dead Experience), on Wednesday, November 25, 2026, at The Hamilton in Washington, DC. The performance is part of Kadlecik's annual Thanksgiving benefit supporting DC Central Kitchen, bringing together an ensemble of musicians for a Latin-inspired exploration of the Grateful Dead's music.
Best known as a founding member of Dark Star Orchestra, his years performing alongside Bob Weir and Phil Lesh in Furthur, and his ongoing work with Melvin Seals & JGB, Kadlecik has spent decades keeping the Grateful Dead's music alive while developing his own musical projects. Los Gatos Mysteriosos offers another direction, drawing on Latin rhythms, percussion and improvisation to reinterpret the Dead's catalog.
The lineup announced so far features Benjie Porecki on piano, Christopher Brown on bass, Aaron Gibian on drums, Manny Arciniega on percussion, Tim Stanley on trumpet, Bobby Muncy on saxophone, Jessica Lake on vocals, and John Kadlecik on guitar and vocals. Additional musicians may be announced as the lineup is finalized.
The evening will also feature a John Kadlecik Solo Acousti'Lectric performance, giving fans an opportunity to hear both Kadlecik's solo work and the debut of Los Gatos Mysteriosos.
The annual Thanksgiving event benefits DC Central Kitchen, a Washington-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing hunger and poverty through food programs and job training. According to The Hamilton's ticket listing, $5 from each ticket will be donated to the organization.
Meanwhile, Kadlecik is back on the road with Melvin Seals & JGB for an extensive run of dates beginning October 14 at The Egg in Albany, New York. The tour travels throughout the Northeast before heading west for three Colorado performances, including October 29 at the Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins and a two-night Halloween run at the Boulder Theater on October 30 and 31.
With Melvin Seals on Hammond B-3 organ and Kadlecik on guitar, JGB continues to celebrate the musical legacy of the Jerry Garcia Band, performing songs rooted in rock, soul, gospel, blues and the improvisational spirit that Garcia brought to the stage.
Following the Colorado shows, Melvin Seals & JGB will continue with December performances in California, including two nights at the Guild Theatre in Menlo Park and two nights in Auburn.
