Sons of Cream Announce ‘Half & Half’ Album and 2027 Tour

Sons of Cream will release their debut album, Half & Half, on January 15, 2027, via Marshall Records. Featuring Malcolm Bruce, Kofi Baker and guitarist and vocalist Rob Johnson, the power trio pairs six reimagined Cream classics with six original compositions, honoring its musical roots while developing a sound of its own.

The album campaign launches with a double single featuring the original “Strange Vibrations” alongside a fresh interpretation of Cream’s “Tales of Brave Ulysses.”

Featuring the sons of Cream legends Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, Sons of Cream approach the influential band’s catalog as a starting point for exploration. Recorded at Marshall Studio within the Marshall Amplification factory in Milton Keynes, England, Half & Half balances that lineage with new songwriting and the trio’s chemistry.

“We came up with the idea of Half & Half simultaneously looking back and paying respect to the tradition that we came from as well as taking steps as a band to write and record new material,” says Malcolm Bruce. “We didn’t want to make a ‘retro’ record. Even with the Cream songs we wanted to put our own stamp on the material, not play it note for note like a tribute band. We are not playing it safe, copying a pre-existing model or style. That is always a risk, but as a creative choice it’s exciting to let it all hang out as a starting point for growth.”

Produced by Malcolm Bruce, with additional production from Rob Johnson, Kofi Baker, Adam Beer and Ollie Brightman, the album was mixed by Chris Sheldon and mastered by Christian Wright at Abbey Road Studios.

Reflecting on the sessions, Johnson says, “The studio itself was an amazing space, big and inviting and beautifully designed. The choice of amps at the studio was unlike anything else I’ve experienced. We were spoiled to be able to choose from so many world class Marshall amps.”

Pre-order Half & Half.

Sons of Cream will support the release with an extensive U.S. headline tour beginning January 14 at City Winery in Nashville, the night before the album arrives. The itinerary includes New York’s Bearsville Theatre, California’s Pappy & Harriets, Austin’s Antone’s and a February 21 stop at Ophelia’s Electric Soapbox in Denver. Dates continue through May 2 at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles, Illinois.
