The Record Company Announce New Single “Last Lonely Winter”

GRAMMY-nominated trio The Record Company has always believed that the truth has a sound. On Wednesday, November 11, the band will share the latest proof with “Last Lonely Winter,” the first taste of new music from vocalist and guitarist Chris Vos, bassist Alex Stiff and drummer Marc Cazorla. Mastered by Jason Livermore at The Blasting Room in Fort Collins, CO, the single will arrive via Yep Roc Records on all streaming platforms, with an official visualizer.

“This is a lyrical song about a guy who literally has to escape town, get a new name; or his demons, vices, addictions, will kill him,” Stiff shares. “He has to go ‘where the Devil won’t find him.’ We feel the music gradually build as live players naturally do, but a major musical, chordal, or arrangement shift would detract from this character’s life or death situation. ‘There’s 2 choices, living or dying.’”

Fifteen years in, The Record Company is turning inward without turning down. The grit, groove and raw electricity that made their name are still here, but underneath is something more reflective — songs about time, patience, faith, family and the realization that life rarely moves according to plan. Acoustic guitars, three-part harmonies, dobro and shimmering pedal steel open up new territory, leaving room for silence and for the weight of a lyric to settle.

“Growing up in the winters of Wisconsin, I learned there are two sides to the cold: one that brings me close to the ones I love, and one that can freeze me within and without,” Vos recalls. “We had the music tracked, and while visiting family in Detroit, I retreated into the basement where I was staying, found a shadowy, quiet, chilly corner, set up my mic and cut the ‘Last Lonely Winter’ vocal. It felt right immediately.”

The band’s last few years haven’t always followed the road anyone expected. There have been difficult stretches, health scares and the complicated work of growing older while protecting something that began when all three were different people. There has also been profound joy, including the arrival of Stiff’s baby boy in late 2024. “Last Lonely Winter” carries those experiences with it — the sound of three musicians who have traveled the world together finding their way back to one another.

“Last Lonely Winter” follows a milestone year for the band, which celebrated the 10th anniversary of its debut, Give It Back To You, with a deluxe expanded reissue in February 2026 and the “Give It Back To You 10th Anniversary” Tour.

The band hits the road Friday, November 6 in Atlanta, including a release-day show at Musikfest Cafe in Bethlehem, PA, with dates running through April 2027. More new music will follow in 2027.
