Arkansauce Shares New Single “Rearview” From Upcoming Album Horizon Never Dies

Arkansauce’s sixth album, Horizon Never Dies, started with a change of scenery. After cutting five albums close to home in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the band packed up and headed to Southern Ground studio in Nashville. It was a chance to add depth and experimentation to the band’s sound without losing the thread of what makes Arkansauce who they are, while soaking up a city built around hook-driven songwriting.

Twelve songs came out of the sessions. Marriages were solidified. Kids were born. A friend was lost. The road kept unspooling in front of the band the entire time, and Horizon Never Dies is what happens when a group that has spent most of its adult life in a van finally sits down and reckons with all of it.

Today, Arkansauce shares “Rearview,” a night-drive escape song about a restless run west toward Colorado, where the problems shrink in the mirror and the windy plains give way to alpine air.

“They’re getting smaller in the rearview mirror / I got some problems, I just left them there,” the band sings before landing somewhere above the noise, among the aspen trees and winding creeks, 10,000 feet up and finally breathing easy.

Horizon Never Dies arrives August 28, and “Rearview” is the second taste of the album following lead single “Soda Pop.”

Produced by Dan Davis alongside the band, Horizon Never Dies also features a deep bench of guest musicians, including Nashville fiddler John Mailander, drummer and percussionist Jesus Agreda, accordionist Robert Ledet, and Asheville resonator guitarist Tommy Maher. Their contributions add texture without crowding out Arkansauce’s core four: Ethan Bush on mandolin, Zac Archuleta on guitar, Adams Collins on banjo and marimba, and Tom Andersen on bass—the same lineup that has carried Arkansauce since its earliest days playing bars around Fayetteville.

Thirteen years and six albums in, Arkansauce is still doing what it has always done: watching the road behind them shrink in the mirror while remaining curious enough to find out what is waiting around the next bend.
