Asleep at the Wheel Treats Nashville to Two Nights of Western Swing in December

December 7th at Skinny Dennis, Presented by Lone Star Beer, December 8th at The Grand Ole Opry

Ready for a Texas two-steppin’ good time, Nashville? Western Swing living legends Asleep at the Wheel are bringing their signature sound to town for two shows next month: December 7th at Skinny Dennis, presented by Lone Star Beer, and December 8th at The Grand Ole Opry as part of the Opry 100 celebration.

These shows will be Nashville’s first opportunity to hear the Wheel’s latest record, Riding High In Texas, live in person, as well as the first time the band’s newest member, fiddler and vocalist Ian Stewart, will grace a Nashville stage with the timeless outfit. Riding High In Texas is a ten-song collection of some of the best songs about the 28th state from a wide range of songwriters like Jimmie Rogers, Guy Clark, and Charlie Daniels—with A-list collaborations with Lyle Lovett and Billy Strings, to boot. The record is a marking of time, a celebration of the band’s 50 years of time spent in Texas. For greater context, read Ray Benson’s interview with Rolling Stone here

Of the Skinny Dennis show partnership, Lone Star Brewing Company’s brand manager Mark Champion says, “Asleep at the Wheel and Lone Star Beer have been a hit together for the last fifty years.  We’ve been proud to support The Wheel here in Texas and we’re excited to see them take that Texas attitude to Skinny Dennis! Nashville is becoming a second home for Lone Star, so having the Wheel knock on the door for all of Texas is music to our ears. We’ll continue to toast our Long Necks to Ray and the band for as long as we’re the National Beer of Texas!”

Tickets for both shows are available now at asleepatthewheel.com/tour.

About Asleep at the Wheel: Since the early 1970s, Asleep at the Wheel has been the most important force in keeping the sound of Western swing alive. They’ve earned critical praise throughout their lengthy career, not simply preserving classic sounds but updating the music, keeping it a living, breathing art form. The group has gone through myriad personnel changes (over 100 members have passed through their ranks), but frontman Ray Benson has held it together since 1970, keeping Asleep at the Wheel devoted to classic-style Western swing.

About Lone Star Brewing Company: Lone Star Brewing Co., the makers of Lone Star Beer “The National Beer of Texas” and Lone Star Texas Light Beer, has been proudly brewing beer in Texas since 1884. Since its founding, Lone Star has partnered with local communities throughout the state, supporting Texas-specific charities and organizations including Texas Parks & Wildlife. Lone Star Brewing Co. is owned by Pabst Brewing Company, one of America’s largest independently owned brewing companies.
