Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage is continuing its run of ticketed benefit shows in Central Park this month. For the most up-to-date scheduling and lineup for all SummerStage programming, visit www.SummerStage.org for all festival information.
On Tuesday, September 24th, the "world's best party band," The B-52's, will perform at SummerStage in Central Park. Best known by the MTV generation for the smash hit and video "Love Shack," the mostly queer quintet hasn't recorded new music since 2008's Funplex but nonetheless still knows which hits keep the party moving. They're joined by Liverpool's OMD (short for Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark), a seminal experimental post-punk band revered in the U.K. for their 1980 anti-war song "Enola Gay" and the classic 1981 LP Architecture & Morality. They found an audience in the U.S. with the hit single "If You Leave" from the soundtrack to John Hughes' Pretty In Pink. Berlin, an American New Wave band who gained mainstream-commercial success with singles including "Sex (I'm A...)", "No More Words", and "Take My Breath Away", will also perform. This show is produced by The Bowery Presents, and will take place from 6PM to 10PM. Doors open at 5PM. Tickets are available for $59.50.
