Boston's acclaimed roots-rock outfit Autumn Hollow is proud to announce the release of their highly anticipated new album, Say No More, arriving May 2nd. The ten-track collection marks a bold evolution in the band's sound, combining raw live energy with thoughtful sonic exploration.

Recorded at Medford's Soul Shop with producer Elio DeLuca (Titus Andronicus), Say No More captures a band at the height of their powers. Frontman Brendan Murphy's weathered vocals and incisive songwriting form the foundation, while Mike Burke's textured guitar work—often run through vintage Leslie speakers for maximum psychedelic effect—provides the perfect counterpoint. The newly joined rhythm section of Chuck Vath (bass) and Ian McMillan (drums) brings a fresh dynamic energy that transforms the band's sound.

"In a music landscape dominated by algorithmic precision, we wanted to make something refreshingly human," says Murphy. "Every song was played live and fully arranged before we started recording, which gave us a strong foundation to build on while still leaving room for studio magic."

The album's sonic palette is expanded by an impressive roster of guest contributors, including Elio DeLuca on keyboards and percussion, pedal steel player Will Ellis Johnson, banjo virtuoso Gabe Hirshfeld, and vocalists Sarah Leveque and Peter Zarkadas. Mastered by the renowned TW Walsh (Damien Jurado, Nathaniel Rateliff, Fruit Bats), the record achieves a remarkable balance between intimacy and expansiveness.

Say No More opens with its contemplative title track, featuring sweeping pedal steel and stunning harmonies that build in intensity from start to finish. From there, it moves into the seismic energy of "Wooden Wire," which Glide Magazine described as "a trembly rocker that combines the vulnerable essence of Jason Molina with the cosmic improvisational charm of Zuma era Neil Young & Crazy Horse."

The album continues its journey through the protest anthem "If This Keeps Up," written before but eerily prescient of the January 6th events, and "After All This Is Gone," which confronts the collective amnesia around COVID's lasting impact. "The Great Dying" showcases Murphy's John Prine-inspired wordplay, while "All We Are" celebrates his jam band roots with jubilant organ work dancing around the groove.

Fresh off their triumphant return to the Boston music scene—where the Boston Globe praised their "unalloyed rock 'n roll" and their 2022 EP Throw the House earned them Boston Music Award nominations—Autumn Hollow has crafted an album that rewards repeated listening, revealing new layers with each spin while never losing sight of the human heart beating at its core.

"Making a record is an enormous undertaking," reflects Murphy. "Each step has its own challenges, and there's no shortcut. But that's what makes it rewarding. Every detail matters, and the love and attention you pour into the process are what ultimately bring the music to life."

Say No More will be available on all major streaming platforms, as well as limited edition vinyl and CD, beginning May 2nd.

"This isn't the same band that emerged from Waltham's music scene. When they lock in, the result feels less like a band and more like a force of nature." - Boston Pulse
