The 30th Anniversary Edition of Buena Vista Social Club is out now through World Circuit Records. The landmark album has been reissued as a special “pearl sunrise” double-LP featuring the 2021 remaster, a gatefold sleeve, 20-page booklet, and five bonus tracks.
Produced by Ry Cooder and executive produced by Nick Gold, the release is the third in a series of color-vinyl reissues celebrating World Circuit Records’ 40th anniversary.

The story began on March 26, 1996, when Cuban bandleader Juan de Marcos González, Cooder, and Gold assembled an impromptu group of Cuban musicians at Havana’s historic EGREM/Areito studios. Many were veterans of Cuba’s musical golden age during the 1940s and ’50s.
Recorded in seven days with the ensemble playing live, Buena Vista Social Club became a worldwide phenomenon. The album sold more than eight million copies, won a Grammy Award, inspired Wim Wenders’ acclaimed documentary, and introduced musicians including Ibrahim Ferrer, Eliades Ochoa, Compay Segundo, Rubén González, and Omara Portuondo to audiences around the world.
The music received another life with the Broadway production Buena Vista Social Club, which opened in March 2025 and won five Tony Awards. Its Original Broadway Cast Recording received the 2026 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, and a North American tour is scheduled to begin later this year.
