Under the glow of imagination and the pull of the natural world, a truly unique cinematic experience arrives in Jackson this March as High n’ Wicked and Lagrimas present special screenings of Mountains of the Moon, the visionary new film from world-renowned artist and professional skier Chris Benchetler.

Taking place March 20–21 at The Center Theater, this immersive event blends film, music, and visual art into a one-of-a-kind sensory journey—elevated further by a live score from Ross James of the Terrapin Family Band.

Mountains of the Moon is a visually striking and deeply reflective work that dissolves the boundaries between humanity and the natural environment. Built around the idea that without darkness we cannot see the light, the film explores unseen connections between life, movement, creativity, and the living earth.

Set to the timeless music of the Grateful Dead and narrated by renowned mycologist Paul Stamets, the film transports viewers through ocean, river, and mountain landscapes in a dreamlike, otherworldly journey. Captured almost entirely at night, the project utilizes cutting-edge cinematography, lasers, animation, and projection mapping to create a visual language unlike anything seen in action sports cinema.

For these special Jackson screenings, the experience expands beyond the screen with a live score performed by Ross James, a Denver-based multi-instrumentalist known for his work with Phil Lesh and the Terrapin Family Band. From 2012 to 2024, James was a key collaborator with Lesh and has shared the stage with Bob Weir, John Scofield, Warren Haynes, Stanley Jordan, and John Mayer.

James has assembled an all-star ensemble for the performances, including Terrapin Crossroads veteran Scott Law, fellow Terrapin Family Band member Alex Koford, and jam-band mainstay Bill McKay, promising a rich and dynamic musical accompaniment to the film’s vivid imagery.

Benchetler will also be joined by key collaborators Treatment Studio and 4Wall Entertainment, helping to bring the film’s immersive visual world to life within the theater setting. Treatment, known for pushing the boundaries of experiential design and visual storytelling, most recently collaborated with Benchetler on the visuals for Dead & Company’s Las Vegas Sphere residency during Mickey Hart’s “Drums.”

Support for the project comes from Lyons Brown, founder of Altamar Brands and owner of High n’ Wicked and Lagrimas, whose philosophy centers on craftsmanship, storytelling, and cultural collaboration. Together, these creative forces present Mountains of the Moon as a celebration of art, music, nature, and connection.
