Corey Henry and the Treme Funktet continue to put their best foot forward—onstage and on the red carpet. While Corey Henry & The Treme Funktet: Live at Vaughan’s (Louisiana Red Hot Records) didn’t take home the GRAMMY this time, Henry shared his gratitude for the recognition and support surrounding the band’s journey to Music’s Biggest Night.

And even beyond the ceremony itself, the Funktet made plenty of noise in the style world. Henry landed on Esquire’s Best Dressed Men list, turning heads in a sharply tailored suit paired with unmistakable rock-star shades.

He wasn’t the only fashion-forward member of the crew to catch the spotlight. Guitar legend June Yamagishi made GQ’s Best Dressed Stars in Red Carpet Menswear roundup—proof that swagger only gets sharper with experience. June’s shoes alone were a moment, as Corey highlighted at a GRAMMY Museum event the night before (see the post here).

Back home in New Orleans, the band returns to the rhythms that made them a local institution: their longtime residency at Vaughan’s on Thursdays and Mondays at D.B.A. We’re also keeping an eye on their Second Saturday at New Orleans Jazz Fest, with a summer run shaping up and new music in the pipeline.

Selected Reviews for Live at Vaughan’s

American Blues Scene praised the release for capturing the grit, groove, and legacy of New Orleans funk, while Gambit Weekly highlighted Henry’s charisma and the band’s ability to translate the club’s live electricity into a recording. The New York Times has also noted the group’s powerful blend of electric funk band drive and brass band force—an unmistakably New Orleans combination.
