Z2 Entertainment is delighted to announce that acclaimed tribute ensemble Dark Star Orchestra (DSO) will return to Colorado for one unforgettable night at the historic Boulder Theater on Sunday, August 31, 2025. For more than two decades—and across 2,700+ performances on three continents—Dark Star Orchestra has carried the spirit of the Grateful Dead forward, recreating complete set lists from every era of the Dead’s 30-year touring history and, on occasion, crafting their own inspired journeys through the songbook. Each performance is a time capsule that lets longtime Heads relive classic nights while inviting new generations to discover why this music endures.
The band’s reach goes far beyond the stage: annual events such as Dark Star Jubilee in Ohio and the sold-out winter getaway Jam in the Sand in Jamaica have become destinations for a devoted, ever-growing community. Along the way, DSO has welcomed guest appearances from original Grateful Dead members Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann, Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay, Vince Welnick, and Tom Constanten, as well as collaborators like Warren Haynes, Mike Gordon, and Keller Williams.
Colorado has always been fertile ground for Dead culture, and Boulder Theater’s intimate art-deco room promises the ideal setting for an evening of exploratory jams, sing-along choruses, and the kind of collective joy that only this music can summon.
