Cytrus Brings Juicy Psychedelic Rock to Cervantes’ Other Side for Denver Debut

Seattle’s Cytrus will make their Denver debut at Cervantes’ Other Side on Sunday, September 13, 2026, bringing their self-described “juicy psychedelic rock” to one of Colorado’s favorite rooms for adventurous live music.

Paying homage to the timeless influences of 1960s and 1970s rock, soul, and psychedelia, Cytrus explores a sound filled with groove-focused instrumentals, soaring solos, hard-hitting riffs, euphoric vocals, juicy synths, and brass-powered grooves. The band’s latest album, Duality, released in November 2025, explores themes of good, evil, mortality, immortality, and time. Captured using a blend of 1960s and 1970s recording equipment and techniques, in conjunction with vintage and modern instruments, Duality leans into nostalgia while supporting its own identity.

Cytrus is shaped by Jared Squires on guitar and vocals, Luke Nevills on bass and keys, Brandon Hailey on saxophone, Owen Mayo on keys and guitar, Trevor Church on drums, Alex Dean on synth and keys, Sean Connelly on vocals and keys, and Connor Merritt on auxiliary percussion. Together, the Seattle octuplet mines psychedelic funk, disco, electronic, rock, soul, and hip-hop, flowing through kaleidoscopic transitions that coalesce into an undeniable, hypnotic wall of sound.

The band began when two Everett, Washington bands found themselves mixing in the same shared rehearsal space. Finding they shared an ethos and approach to songcraft, Bunk Foss and HopSol merged, and Cytrus was born. Their music has since grown through both collaboration and improvisation, with songs emerging from small-group sketches as well as full-band jams that were later arranged into expansive live vehicles.

Cytrus has performed at festivals including Joshua Tree Music Festival, Treefort Music Festival, Sawtooth Valley Gathering, Cascade Equinox Festival, Summer Meltdown Festival, Olympia Funk Fest, and Re/Evolution Festival. The band has also supported or co-headlined with Victor Wooten & The Wooten Brothers, Budos Band, Orgone, Spafford, Polyrhythmics, Ibibio Sound Machine, Pink Talking Fish, Boot Juice, and Yak Attack.

With their Denver debut at Cervantes’ Other Side, Cytrus brings a young but deeply ambitious sound to Colorado — one rooted in vintage textures, exploratory grooves, and the kind of live energy that rewards both dancing and deep listening.
