Dar Stellabotta’s “Into Thin Air” Finds Power in Three Chords and the Truth

Washington D.C. based musician Dar Stellabotta returns with Into Thin Air, a nine-track collection that captures the heart of her one-woman blues rock style. Built entirely on the raw power of her homemade cigar box guitar and Farmer foot drum, Stellabotta creates a sound that’s emotional, and unmistakably her own. Released on translucent orange vinyl on September 6, 2025, the album channels her self-described motto of “three chords and the truth” with smoky distortion, sliding guitar tones, and that steady kick drum that gives her music its full-band energy.

Each song on Into Thin Air feels handcrafted, both sonically and emotionally. Opening with “Many Miles to Go,” setting the tone with a grounded bluesy pulse that pulls you right into what is to come. Throughout the record, Stellabotta’s sound is stripped down but far from simple, the layers of her playing are balanced with her voice creating a closeness that feels almost live, like you are right there in the room with her. On “Your Thing,” she leans into deeper, rock infused tones as she sings, “You do your thing/ And I’ll do mine.” Blending independence and longing in such an effortless way.

On “Ain’t Too Good,” her foot drum locks in a steady groove beneath smoky vocals and punchy riffs. Stellabotta guitar takes center stage with the foot-stomping energy that keeps you hooked. Lyrics like “I need love, I need desire/ I need you, I’m not a liar/ I need the soul in my song not to be gone.” Blending honesty with rhythm, showing her ability to keep the emotions high and the groove perfectly balanced. It’s important to note Stellabotta’s knack for turning minimal instrumentations into something that is full bodied and truly alive.

The record thrives on its simplicity, it’s not overproduced, and that’s exactly what gives it power. Every sound comes directly from one musician’s hands and heart. The intimacy of Into Thin Air makes it feel less like an album and more like an invitation into Stellabotta’s creative space,  one filled with love, home, and self-discovery.

Whether you catch her live or drop the needle on her translucent vinyl, Into Thin Air stands as a reminder that real musicianship doesn’t need anything fancy, it just needs soul.
