Grammy Award winner Delfeayo Marsalis and Uptown Jazz Orchestra are set to enchant audiences with the Big Easy Holiday Bash 2025, a joyous celebration of the holiday season that spotlights the greatest New Orleans music and its legendary musicians! The party comes to Arrow Street Arts in Cambridge December 11-13, 2025, offering three nights of holiday classics, New Orleans R&B, and a jazzy Nutcracker Suite. Featuring National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Master Delfeayo Marsalis, Grammy Award-winning vocalist Nicole Zuraitis, The Big Easy Holiday Bash carries the audience from the streets of New Orleans to the nightlife of New York and all the way to the grand concert halls of the old country.
“We are going to bring a bit of the New Orleans brass band sound, mix it with the sophisticated orchestral sounds of Duke Ellington, and a bit of the nightclub sound for a unique experience you won’t find anywhere else,” said Delfeayo Marsalis.
Award-winning choreographer and teacher Adrienne T. Hawkins will reimagine Duke Ellington’s Nutcracker Suite through dance with the help of Russel Furgerson, Boston native and winner of Season 6 of So You Think You Can Dance, and Tron Hunt, Co-founder of Slaughter House Poppin Sessions.
“The music was composed in the late 1800s, Duke Ellington upgraded it to a jazz feel in 1960, and we are upgrading the jazz feel to a contemporary visual,” Adrienne T. Hawkins, Choreographer. “We have everything from krumping and popping to ballet.”
Created to showcase the vibrant artistry of New Orleans, the Big Easy Holiday Bash brings together exceptional vocal and instrumental performances with dazzling jazz dance. Adrienne Hawkins’s whimsical choreography honors tradition while infusing modern energy and flair.
The show is presented by Bresette and Company and Arrow Street Arts with additional support from the Folk Americana Roots Hall of Fame.
